No clue where you got the feeling that people think he’s a world leader, because neither I wrote that nor do I think anybody seriosly thinks that. This also isn’t a forum about world leaders. He’s a Japanese musician and this is literally a thread about him.

he always gave off major control freak vibes so idk what’s to be surprised with here?.. people with authoritarian personality love authoritarian politics, and that stuff typically doesn’t change over time.
and ljs a lot of people want to bring whatever past that they never lived through back because of some sort of romanticized image they have developed. I think of it as a way to escape being too disappointed with the present tbh.

Honestly as a Brazilian I often wish natives had warded off Portuguese ships like Japan did lol
Besides, it’s true that everything is TOO globalized and nobody respects boundaries I mean things like culture - the neocolonialists try to impose what “works” for their society and not realize and respect other cultures religions etc.
It sucks to live in such a world where all that is respected is money. I truly fucking hate it here.
But it’s also true that people love to go to Japan for tourism because it’s comparatively orderly - not many druggies or gangsters in daylight so for the sake of that I guess keeping a strict no drugpolicy is likely for the best - newer gen have been realizing that drugs are pointless even in the West so maybe it’s just being avant garde lol

I agreed up until the opinion part.
Closing off the country does nothing but make it more difficult to understand, learn, and create the situation where respecting (cultural) differences while learning how to build harmonious community is in balance. Decrease pointless violent incursions, wars, keep them from being a prolonged issue, ect. keep the Earth in a state where its not going to destroy itself and everything with it, ect.
There’s a need to be a global citizen as well as a citizen of your own country. Respect (of various differences,), concept of community, compromise.

Agreed. This needs to be balanced out asap. This also helps no one and also breads negativity that blows up into pointless, negative, destructive situations. Love and respect differences, let people live how they feel best so that you can do the same.
It’s more than a bit disappointing that he’s in favor of such ridged isolationism. I don’t even think this is a viable way to exist in this day and age, is it?.. 
Honestly, Japan can’t return to being isolated. They rely too much on tourism, cheap Asian labour and American military protection to enforce such a policy. Can’t say much more without violating the no politics rule.

The thing about respecting differences is that it needs to go both ways and it seldom happens. One side always tries to force itself on another. It’s why so many people are choosing to live alone anyways … but it’s really beyond the topic.

Yea, the balance is just not there, which is the crushing, difficult, frustrating part of this particular issue.
He does state this more or less, the issue of this mutual respect of differences hardly being in existence, but then also holds a view that would not improve the situation in anyway.
So in fact, he would be a part of the problem, just in a very minor way.

This man always knows how to make me angry every time I try to empathize with him.
I remember the time he appeared in Spain and he said on his blog (2010) that this country was full of fat people.
He has opinions to give to everyone…
Why doesn’t he talk about his record label DEARS, why it’s not in Japan and other things like that?
If his opinion is to close the borders of Japan, go ahead, but they shouldn’t be able to go abroad either.
The Japanese with reflex cameras would end up all over the world…

Wait, he has a record label? When did that happen? I do remember some project that was being talked about, i forgot most of the details but it had something to do with Redemption and how it was a top PV of his that had the most views or something… was that was this DEARS label was suppose to be?
Sometimes you do have to read into his opinions/words a bit more to see what he is truly getting at, especially back then. I don’t remember him making a comment like that about Spain, but it makes me wonder what the context was that would have him saying something like that.
He’s strongly opinionated and unapologetic about his views, but I don’t believe he is purposely disrespectful either. Do you remember the context in which he said this?

The tabloids are currently thinking that Gackt is out of Japan due to tax evasion.
That’s why I find it funny that Gackt is advocating closing the borders of a country where he neither lives nor currently pays taxes.
Regarding the comment on the blog in Spain, it was all in the context of his trip to make the 2010 calendar. Speaking about his experience with the trip, he said that he was struck by the weight of the population.

If by absolute best you mean most popular I would have to say maybe Vanilla, Last Song and Mizerable … and Graffiti maybe (took me a minute to google anisons) ? If by that you mean personal favorites … while I listen to Mars sometimes I don’t have particular favorites there aside from Dears I think but it’s a solid cd <3 and Sakura Chiru ft Yohio say w/e … checked Spotify to remind myself and Redemption too
