What a shame.
I still remember when I picked up the vinyl of Asylum’s Crystal Days at a record flea market in New York City in the 2000s. I had seen the band’s name online but never heard their music before. The cover immediately caught my eye. Musically, the title track is amazing in all it’s forms: band, guitar, piano version.

Asylum’s last album is a gem too. I was lucky to find this poster on mercari for a pittance and now it’s forever adorning my wall.

Gazelle’s track on Braintrash was what turned me onto his music.
What a unique force in songwriting he was across all of his projects.

Ohh my god, ASYLUM are one of the greats imo, I feel like the smarter/proggier elements that appear in VK from time to time are largely down to their influence

One of Gazelle’s last recordings, perhaps the very last, from the end of 2024 has been distributed via twitter. It’s a cover of the Beatles ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’ and it features music from longtime Asylum guitarist Hiroshi.
