Hello after all this time

Hello :waving_hand:

Ever since I found out about the D’espa announcement last month, I have been kinda lurking here and finally decided to make an account.

I used to be into VK from 2008 until about … well, I think the last concert I visited was 2014?
My favourite bands were D’espairsRay (as if not evident enough…), Dir en grey and Girugamesh (the heavier stuff). But I also liked to listen to -OZ-, Awoi, Deathgaze and the sort.
Does anyone still remember the Livejournal communities? I used to frequent the xxdespairsrayxx LJ around that time. I do kinda wonder where the communities went (aside this forum). Kinda miss some people I used to chat with quite a lot then :cry:

I fell off the bandwagon when D’espa were forced to disband. Not gonna lie it hit me pretty hard. The concert in 2014 I mentioned was The Micro Head 4N’s I think, but ever since the disbandment I had a hard time and it just wasn’t the same for me. I guess I just disappeared and explored some other interests in all those years (and grew up a little I suppose haha).

Well, I can’t wait what new things they have in store for us. :slight_smile:
I did already notice some differences to 15 years ago (hello, overseas fans can join fanclubs now? My mind is blown). Also, I wanted to say I loved reading some discussions on here. For the most part the posts are constructive and insightful, something I felt was rather rare back then (or my brain is turning old and deceiving me).

Who of us doesn’t miss livejournal. After it broke down, i went over to tumblr which had a great mania community for a few years, but then it all shifted to twitter.

And well, that broke down too.

I have no idea either were all the manias went. Holding up 15 years waiting was tough. I gave up last september and accepted to live with the side projects. I thought Despas would never get back together at this point. The last Nul album was so frustrating and Hizumi couldn’t seem to sing high melodic notes anymore, so he also could not sing the Despas songs anymore. So i was late to the announcment, too.

Since then i am trying to find manias, again too. I focused my bluesky account on music but there aren’t many fans either. I think some are still on X but i have a slight problem with Nazis.

I thought about setting up a Despas dedicated Discord. But i am not sure, how big the interest would be. In any case it’s good that i see manias here at least, so i know your usernames XD

Oh yeah, Twitter. I spent some time on there as well. :smiley: Over the years I deleted most of my social media (except for instagram) though, so I guess I’m part of the problem in being “gone”.

I never checked them out aside from their first MV, what’s the style like?

From what I have read on here “newer”(?) fans are on TikTok now, but there’s no way I’ll use that app :skull:

Well, there still seem to be some people around, so who knows?
I know I’ve been using other D’espa-related usernames in the past :smiley: Although on LJ I went by kuraijin if we ever “met” on there.

Anyway, it’s nice to read from a fellow mania :smiling_face:
