Hiya 👋

Hi everyone!
I joined yesterday, after reading here for a long time. I decided to join because I miss taking part in discussions and I like the tone and culture on here. I’ve been feeling a bit lost with communties on reddit recently, as it feels like a lot of posts should have been a google search. Basically, I’m old and accordingly I miss the old internet.
I got into VK in the early 2000s, kind of lost my connection to the genre around 2010, but started to follow it more actively again in 2018. I’m pretty basic with my bands and mostly listen to DEG and deadman and whatever projects are in their orbit.

Welcome to JRO

Hi and welcome!! You’ll find a lot of fellow Diru Extended Universe and Deadman fans here, so you’re in the right place! Diru topics are basically the thunderdome of J-Rock One. Hope you enjoy your time here!

Hello! Huge deadman fan here, though I only got into them after they revived from the dead. (Heh!)

That’s awesome! Enjoy yourself!
I stumbled across a snippet of a backstage/live report from the show I went to in 06, that I have been trying to find and may have shed a tear. (https://youtu.be/2G2S1tGovPE?si=hDebPfySl0dg2AES) so good.
I’m still a little bamboozled that they really came back after whining about it for literally 15 years.

That’s so cool! I was a literal child when they disbanded, so it feels so strange to see them in their old costumes. Like, Aie… in makeup??? Earlier this year I went to their FC-only live in Nagoya and Aie had some red eyeshadow on, and they made a big deal out of it. Aie said he hadn’t worn makeup in over 10 years lol.

Mako still looks pretty similar though. I love Mako so much. He’s so unserious in FC events. I think he said that he was too preoccupied with looking cool during the pre-disbandment years and it got really stressful for him, but now he’s playing music again because it’s fun.

For me it’s the opposite. That era already felt like their new look almost  (I was 16 when I saw them and looked horrible that night lol)
I’m glad to hear that he came back for the enjoyment of it! I hope I’ll get to see them and kein (still a total wtf that they exist again) either in Europe or Japan. Although I don’t really see them coming back here.

Yes kein is amazing! I’m glad they came back, I would never have discovered them otherwise!
And hmm, yeah, I don’t see deadman going to Europe anytime soon. They’re not pulling the kind of numbers they used to, and they’re not the pretty boy kind of band. Merch wise, it’s kinda a given that bands sell cheki now, especially when they go abroad…

Except that they’re not allowed to sell Asanao cheki because lynch. won’t allow it. Either way it’d be hard for them to go abroad with half the band being support members.
