The shoegaze band honeydip who was part of Sugizo’s label in 2000 reformed last year after a 15 year absence. They only performed one show in 2009 which was technically their kaisan live after having paused activities in 2003 making this comeback even more unexpected.
Since the reunion started, they played one live in November and the next is on February 1st. No other further live schedule has been announced. The latter show will be streamed via Zaiko which is available for people outside of Japan to purchase and view:
Their albums have long been out of print and sell for multiples of their original prices on the second-hand market. The members has always known this and even commented about the ludicrous prices some have sold for.
As part of the reunion, two of their albums ‘Another Sunny Day’ and ‘groovy indian summer’ will be remastered with extra tracks and released on February 26th.
Independent to their sudden reunion last year, the youtube algorithm gods coincidentally started recommending honeydip’s one and only PV which subsequently received 100,000’s of views in a matter of months when in the previous 12 years of being online, it had only gotten a fraction of that.
