How long has everyone been a fan of vkei? Even if you weren't in any communities

Going on about 14 years when I first found the VisualScandal blog. Holy shit.

edit: of course my exposure was much earlier than that with Nightmare (Death Note lol), Gackt, and Miyavi on TV, but I didn’t know about visual kei until 2011 or so.

Since 2005. I had a friend who got me into X Japan, and the rest is history. :sweat_smile: I fell out of vkei for a while after getting tired of many of the bands I enjoyed disbanding, but I found my way back again. Now, I only listen to a few artists compared to before.

I basically already listened to VK music back in 2013 through anime intros (the GazettE, SID, etc), but I only actually knew about VK and intentionally searched it up in 2018. So I only count 6,5 years for myself

Me as well! I knew it in anime intros since 2020 and I knew one artist in 2021, but didnt get into it until 2023, so I only gave myself less than 2 years

I’ll tell you in a nutshell, I belonged to what was going to be the Staff of when NAZARE came to Colombia but in that project I didn’t have the clothing or the standard of being visual kei,Therefore, those people let me know that I could not be visual kei because of the color of my skin, like sometimes laughing, making fun of me, etc. NAZARE, canceling here in Colombia hurt me but at the same time I felt good.

I thank you for welcoming me, although in a certain way I have already lost the taste or feeling of wanting to belong to a community after what happened, I feel good being here and I am informed of everything haha

Anime intros since 2006-7, discovered Janne Da Arc in 2009 and it’s all been downhill from there

Since 2004, so 21 years. I guess I kinda listened to VK before also thanks to Anime OSTs, which I collected earlier from ca. 2001/02 onwards, but 2004 was the year I intentionally listened to it as I got into D’espairsRay, Dir en grey and Moi dix Mois.
