I mean, I listened to Diru for the first time twenty years ago (wait, what?). However, I really started listening to and have considered myself a fan for some 15-16 years.

So cool to see most replies (so far) are 11+ years : D

19 years here. In my first year of high school, my friend lent me her gigantic iPod loaded up with DEG songs, and the rest is history

So my fruity midwestern self got into Visual Kei because of the Death Note anime adaptation. This would be during the summer of 2008 before starting sixth grade.

Fuck, time really flies by, huh?

i immediately heard dial up noises. we got a japanese videostore that got some VHS tapes in one year and that Changed My Life. then i hosted Vkei Viewing Parties with snacks…i briefly got banned from trying to check out 25 of them LMAO

fights broke out bc this was the 2000s and we were still calling furi “parapara”…oh what an era lmao

I heard some tidbits here-and-there in the late '00s without doing deep-dives on the bands, but LMN J was my true primer to vk.

I have been involved in visual kei since 2021 because I feel that it is a form of expression and I feel that as such it empathizes with me, I wanted to belong to a community and make it bigger, but I felt excluded because of my skin tone.

It turning into 20 years next year.
I’ve been in the middle of my 20’s at that time already not as young as apparently most.
