I came through X-Japan because i saw Yoshiki perform with KISS and wondered who they were, but then i listened to malice mizer and really enjoyed them. Although it was Buck-Tick who really sent me down the rabbit hole, their dark yet beautiful lyrics and aesthetic drew me in.

In the ballpark of 12-13 - I was indoctrinated by Saw IV and a friend in an AzuDaioh community getting me into Galneryus.

I was also hooked by X-Japan. Their music was used for the anime X/1999. Forever Love for the ending of the movie and X as an opening for the series. Me and my bff were huge fans of X/1999 (on my desk I still have a photo of 15/16 old us with holding the manga) and really moved by the ending of the movie. So I looked for more music from X-Japan and read about hide’s tragic death and his music :face_holding_back_tears:
I think I was 17 by the time I really got invested

At 13 or 14 I found Agitated Screams of Maggots and thought it was one of the worst things I had ever heard, later that same year by coincidence I listened to Different Sense without knowing it was the same band and instantly became obsessed. I guess I got into VK properly through Diru’s early stuff but the transition was so natural that I don’t remember how I started listening to more lesser known bands and such. I’m 21 now and also consider Agitated Screams of Maggots to be a classic

It took me a while to see that one, lmao. I was more confused than anything, especially not knowing the lyrics

I come from listening to KISS(like every other band member lol) and Marylin Manson so the shift to vkei was natural and eventually bound to happen, cool and edgy visuals helped. X-Japan just made that easier being a vkei patriarch, but also one of the best metal bands out there.

They heard X at the end of Saw IV.

We’re not fans.
