Iâm pretty sure 90% of the âbelow 15â people are under 30
When I was in my early teens the possibility to discover Visual Kei in Europe was lower than winning big time in a lottery
Early '00s I remember there were many of us in the middle of our teens. Yes tweens in the fandom were rare because there werenât many of them freeranging on the internet without supervision like now, but around 13-14 was your average millenial age of internet access at the time, at least in my country.
When I was 14-15 y.o. Vk was the impulse for me to start to use Internet more than the usual 1-2 hours a week I did before it (because youâd pay EVERY minute you were online).
Also, the late '90s-early 00âs pipeline for VK, in Europe, was the manga/anime fandom.
35 here but you might be right. I know at least a few more uncs on here.
About 12~13?
I was 25 (but Iâm no manga/anime person, so there was no connection through that before).
I just had changed to WiFi which was very helpful, too.
I think it was in 2005, so I was 12 years old. For some reason, the music channels in Germany played Saishuu Ressha by MUCC and I was captivated by it.
Yeah, things got a bit more known at that time and Viva+ showed MVâs.
They once even did a show of an hour or so where they played quite some MVâs.
I even recorded it back then but I donât remember where I put it.
I used to read the german Metal Hammer a lot. Back then they used to have a CD or DVD with the magazine and on one of those DVDâs was the PV for Saku by Diru. I instantly fell in love with Kyoâs look. So i checked them out further and the rest is history. That must have been around 2005-2006, basically around the time Diru had their first Concert ever in Germany.
I was 15 when I first found out about itâŚthis year Iâll be 31 Iâm an old man by now
- I was 12.
At 15 years (in 2002), while iâam reading a french magazine named âOtakuâ related to japanese animation who was talking about a band called Dir En Grey. Shortly after, i found a mail order shop and i bought my first album of visual kei called âMacabreâ, the aptly named. A musical and visual thunderbolt.
Maybe I was young because of Gackt and animes.
I was 13 for An Cafe and i discovered visual kei via French Rock Magasine in 2000âs.
thatâs a fantastic first mucc song
I feel called out XD I discovered it at 13 and I canât say its been too long..
I was around 13-ish? My friend in 7th grade showed me the PV for Dir en Greyâs âObscureâ and I was confused and grossed out and intrigued. From there dived into more of Diruâs discography and discovered Girugamesh
a lot of us discovered it around that age! soon, youâll be the âoldâ one
Im 34!
7 baby!
I recently turned 41. When I was 14, only the upper middleclass and above families in my environment had internet access at home. And as it was not cheap to be online, the time frame were we allowed to connect to the internet was very restricted and we usually used the time to chat with strangers
I think we got a modem at home around two years later, but the online access was still quite resticted due to costs. Therefore not much time to browse the internet for music, besides, search engines werenât that good back then and youtube did not exist yet.
Things changed when I discovered P2P filesharing clients - rapidly
But well, enough âGranny tells stories of the ancient timesâ stuff
