KAMIJO New Album "OSCAR" (2022/10/23 Release)

Before I jump into the album I wonder what do you guys think? Is it jawdropping? Is he trying new stuff or playing it safe? What are(is) the killers tune of the album?

Knowing your comments, you will probably not like it

I only said Oscar sounded like a classic Kamjio song

In general you disliked lots of new vk albums, thats why i said it lol
In short - the album has some nice songs, but it’s all pretty standard Kamijo

I’ve listened to this a whole bunch of times by now, so I wanted to share some thoughts:

The album pleasantly surprised me, I was not very excited about it at first, even though Kamijo is my favorite artist (of all time). I was anxious about it because Sang was such a good and well thought out album that I was wondering how he was going to top it, or if he was going to even try. I was also kind of worried he was going to throw in like, a 25 minute song just to say he did it or something.

First of all, the re-recorded tracks are all imperceptibly better. I don’t have enough knowledge of music terminology to be any more specific than they just sound perfected, like places where the original versions lacked, these versions just make them stronger. Additionally, the new version of Temple is just infinitely better. Makes the original look bad, even.

The comments so far of it being pretty standard or classic Kamijo are definitely true. I don’t think he branched out much or tried anything really new, which is fine to me personally. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. He does symphonic metal so well that I don’t really see him needing to do much else, but it is still nice to see tracks like Beautiful Rock n Roll, Fairytale, and Avec Toi so that things don’t get too much of the same. That being said, Fairytale is the weakest track on the album, but even at that I find it to be different/better than tracks like Mystery or Romantique from previous albums because it felt like more thought was put into how to make it special.

The best tracks for me are, of course, the high energy symphonic metal tracks. Agenda was a great album opener. I think Habsburg is really good too. Shadow of Oscar, Oscar, and Noblesse Oblige are probably the overall best tracks (to me, anyway).

All that said, I’m dying for the Kanji lyrics so I can translate the whole album… If anyone has them.

The contents of the 2nd Disc are instrumental tracks of CD 1. On the CD itself you can read “Special instrumental Disc”

If it helps I could scan the bootleg with the lyrics

That definitely does help for now if you could! I’m still looking around online to copy and paste the Kanji because it is easy and I am lazy, but anything would be helpful haha

Depending on how clean the text background is, and how good the scans are, you can try running the scans through Screenshot OCR online - clipboard, drag and drop, upload. Online crop. which can recognize Japanese text from images.

You’re a life saver.

If I knew about this a while ago, I’d have literally saved hours and hours of work!

Took 2 listens to get into it, but now I like it. Previous stuff was better still, I think.
