I’ve never understood this concept, if you’ll pardon the pun, that there has to be a “concept” around visual kei music. Why can’t they just make good music? It’s not prog rock.
I talk about having a concept, because I know very well Kirito previous band : " PIERROT ".
I would not talk about this for every bands.
I know that it’s his strong point when he was in PIERROT, each album had a strong concept. AND, they build their music around it, which helped their creativity (It made them do " good music " as you say).
If you listen to Angelo carefully, especially all their last albums, so many songs can be forget, there are many similar songs.

it’s a great song, and his prev. album was a huge step-up from angelo.
idk where the budget complaints are coming from too… the lavish pierrot PVs era stopped even before they actually disbanded. this is not bad.

Having now watched the whole thing, I think the cheap digital video look is to make the rest of the PV blend in with the news footage.
It is definitely “a thing” though in VK, that all bands need to have a “concept”. Or certainly it used to be five or ten years ago, maybe now not so much, I dunno.
I’ve already completely forgot his previous solo album, and if this track signals the general tendency for the upcoming album, it’ll probably suffer the same fate… i.e. not bad, I’ll enjoy rockin’ out to it, and then completely forget it exists. 
But let’s see when it actually comes out!

Not a big fan of the covers, he kind of looks like a soundcloud rapper. But sick photoshoot!
those are just PV stills in monochrome, same frugal approach as on his debut album. I’m not a fan.
the look is… refreshing? the backing band, and all that.
Just listened to it. I really like it. Nice to see suit-kei Kirito back again.

this is such an improvement over his previous solo album honestly, I like all the ambient sound layers in the 2nd part of the album, and I haven’t hated any slow preview in this one so far… 不条理な闇 goes in top-3 tracks off the record even before I’ve heard the full thing.
this and h.u.g. shows how much being stuck with angelo dragged all of its actively composing members down.

Is it one of the best albums of the year?
Personally I liked his last album, but this also sounds very good. I actually never got tired of Angelo even though their last few albums were admittedly very similar-sounding. I’m just glad that Kirito is sticking with the heavier Angelo-style sound. I’m not that keen on his earlier, softer solo albums.

I wasn’t fond of his albums to be honest (I only could listen to hameln and negative once they went up on steaming - in retrospect, both are pretty mediocre), but I noticed that with both angelo and pierrot it feels like he started scrapping his best ideas for a solo project about around FREEZE and last 3 angelo albums respectively.
angelo had karyu to fall back on, but h.u.g. is on another level compared to their entire last stretch which i personally find pretty tragic; they really went downhill, and I often wonder what exactly happened, is the decline of VK really that bad so the members no longer care to produce something outside of contract-required bare minimum?
