not right away, I guess
スターチス lyric video (sample)
Wow Merry is back and everything doesn’t look super cheap, it almost feels like they scrambled together their last money into this “the last scene” project… but I hurts to say that the lead track… is disappointing. I don’t think the chorus is strong enough to carry the song or to make you want to repeat it. Damn I wanted this to be a banger so damn much trust me

Bold choice to open an album with a ballad.
Songs are okay. Smell and Haitoku no skeleton dance feel very early MERRY. Machiko no yume is very interesting? Somewhat folky, but also pop. Nothing special, but very fresh.
The rest of the songs are okay, but quite forgettable unfortunately. They didn’t dare to try new things. Classic rought MERRY guitar, a few electro beats like on Strip, a bit yelling/rapping like on new chemical rhetoric, a few strong bass lines, fast drum beats, some pop-ish songs would still consider it one of their better releases of the past 10/15 years. it might grow on me, who knows.
endroll
It’s on streaming services now
Personally I dont like very much when they add the songs with romanized titles…or even worse when they put “original japanese” then followed by the romanized title (not talking only about Merry)…
The worst is when they add the translations on streaming platforms and instead of
「残像の愛し方、或いはそれによって産み落ちた自身の歪さを、受け入れる為に僕たちが過ごす寄る辺の無い幾つかの日々について。」
it’s
”It’s about days of Rootless Wandering We Spend to learn how to Love an afterimage or to accept the Distortion Born Within Ourselves.”
a few years ago Razor also did this… badly
Instead of スーサイダー (suicider) they gave it the stupid “translation” of Sous cider
Pissed me off whenever I saw it so I sent their official website an email to complain
(They put the Japanese back for a week or so and then changed it to suicider. Never replied to my email tho lol)
Maybe cider lovers (a little aside : french Brittany cider is a killer).
