I’ve had this on my mind for a while, probably because trending vkei is leaning toward metalcore-ification, and, sonically speaking, there are a lot of requests for what I think is akin to the sadness reflected in the younger gen’s view of the world today.
Just two days ago or so, I was finding a song for a user, and I chanced upon Guild’s Uso Janai. Throw your tomatoes at me for missing out on this hit despite knowing the relevant Zany Zap bands like Anli Pollicino and Golden Bomber…and man. I feel like I smell 2013 in the air all over again.
What songs make you feel like it’s the late 2000s and early 2010s’ brand of millennial optimism all over again?
I think they should go hand in hand, but anything that makes you feel fit that sense of hopefulness works! I guess soundwise would be the first consideration but open to interpretation

But if we want to go for the millennial optimism angle, i.e. “acknowledging that the world is chaotic, overwhelming, or broken, yet holding onto a promise for a better tomorrow” type of optimism, then this Pierrot song is something I consider “optimistic” moreso than “positive”

DoG in the PwO is one of the very rare oshare kei bands with an outstanding vocalist with a melancholic voice, so everything he sings sounds hopeful/pretty even when one of their release is called dggy stle ( idk why i’m censoring it, just in case ) ..
