Yeah good pants
I went back and gave AI no Uta another listen and I enjoyed it more. Definitely not their strongest song, but a good background listen.
Violet’s beginning reminded me of Dorothy by Sukekyo or something. Seems interesting.
Violet has a great vibe
Love their 80s vk/new wave revival arc!
Violet is very good! There’s a little air of resemblance with Candis of Sukekiyo for me. It’s promising in any case!
Interview on natalie.mu about Ai no uta and their future:
Basically they say, they wanted to reproduce an 80’s/90’s sound. The “Smells like teen spirit” riff was intentional.
They chose to join Tokuma because they have been indie for a while and felt like a change of their environment would be good again.
It’s also interesting because they talk about VK in general and they are doing the tour with younger bands because there are no big VK events/festivals anymore (like the SHOXX festival) and they feel like this was an important part for VK bands to network.
Tatsurou finished this interview with:
“I think I’ll be able to make the next announcement a few days after this interview is published (laughs). After the tour, I’ll be working on the production… well, I think there’s a lot going on, so please wait.”
It’s fine. Ai no Uta needed a stronger chorus. Violet could be a grower but I’m not crazy about it after one listen, although I like it. Streaming sounds a bit too shit to judge.
TRENDY II incoming?
I doubt that they could topped that EP tbh but i’d love to see them try.
I wonder if it even has a chorus?
Not very Mucc-like to choose such a “weak” song for a single main track, in my opinion. But it seems that most people in here are totally blown away by it.
I would be down with that!
When I started listening to it I was wondering “that’s weird, Mucc usually frontloads their chorus/hooks lately I guess not this time because that wasn’t too interesting” then I realizaed what was actually happening lol
I’d say it’s totally mucc-like to lead with the most mid tracks for more time than not now… that’s why I was shoked to see them release 99 and Siren.
Wait 99 has the be like in top 5 of their catchiest songs ever made, and one of the best rock songs of 2023. That one on full volume sends chills down my spine every time. Or did I misunderstand something?
“blown away” is such a weird way to describe people saying a song is pretty decent
It’s bait, don’t take it. Unless you explicitly say anything is shit he’ll assume you are ‘blown away’ or ‘impressed’ by it.
Definitely. But I think Miya outsourced the Korn/Metalcore sound to Petit brabancon, so I assume it’s probably gonna be more of a BUCK-TICK electro sound like “under the moonlight”.
Sorry didnt mean like that, to “troll”. I will be careful in the future.
But I have to admit it grows on you.
Was gonna say the solo for Violet is quite identical to the solo for Buck-Tick’s In Heaven - (the first bit anyway) sounds like some sort of throwback!
Just listened to it for the first time in full. I didn’t care for it while I watched the MV, but on its own it was pretty good and I enjoyed it. The b-side was fairly unexpected as well, I’ve still only listened to it once, but it gave me a sort of jazz-inspired VK vibe but more modern and heavier. Still not really my vibe overall, but I think it has potential to grow on me.
Wow, I loved this single. Both songs are great, and it’s really an love letter to Buck-Tick. I’m really, really, really digging this
