MUCC new single "Never Evergreen" release

If the song is meh, can we have a pretty MV?.

Latest news from Japan. The title track is unfortunately meh, it feels like a safe album filler. Damn =(

The video is out, and the song is meh. Tatsuro got an horizont haircut lol! the official photos make it look longer?

This song sounds pretty marketable for an anime or another media. idk.

the video is cute tho, the photography and the direction are nice to.

Tried to find it on my phone but didn’t go well but this is written by tatsuro right? Just cant imagine miya would come up with something as toothless like this.

You’re rigth, both lyrics and composition are his. He’s not a gifted lyricist but not terrible either, he has some very good ones tho. this is mid, enough to listen while cooking or folding laundry.
His creations are easy to spot.

Inoffensive song.
I wonder why Tatsurou didn’t release it under his own project.

I suspect it was contractual reasons… the idea that MUCC is getting leftovers to comply to record label contracts doesn’t bode well. Hope I’m just wrong.

obviously not an all-timer, but it’s pretty nice for what it is

I like the bass on this one, but the song feels very season3-anime-ending-ish

That’s oddly specific

Yeah you are right. It really sounds like a Tatsuro solo release, and a weak one. Miya and Yukke can’t have been excited about releasing this song… you can really hear that they at least tried to shine with the instrumentals where they could, to make up a bit for how generic it is. Of course they know it isn’t a memorable song/a banger.
To be honest the verse is fine but the chorus is just so weak, generic and boring and kills the whole song.

I wonder if they (Miya I guess) can’t say no to Tatsuro if he says he wants to be in charge of a main Mucc single? How could he accept this (Miya s a genius who has written so many super bangers “turning on 99”). Well I don’t know well about the Mucc politics… maybe someone sits on any gossip?

Anyway it sucks this will be start of the next album… Someone said inoffensive and yes that is a perfect word for it. So inoffensive, so generic, so toothless. Sorry for a tldr but I am just so disappointed by this because now we have to wait months for the next song…

The single itself hasn’t released yet and there are 2 other songs on it. The title track won’t turn any heads but we can get someting out of b-sides.

I’m aware that Tatsuro, being the frontman of the band and projecting so much charisma, might give the impression of being the tough guy, but that’s not the case. Miya is the leader for a reason, not Tatsuro.

Tatsuro is a bit of a troll, referring to YUKKE as “the new guy” in many interviews and videos, even after 20+ years, since he’s the only non-original member. He also calls Miya “Mr. Leader.”

It’s known from interviews with Sato that when he left the band, it took him a whole year to make the decision, and he was especially afraid of Miya’s reaction. Once he expressed his desire to leave, Miya was indeed the angriest, and it was him, along with the other members, who convinced Sato to continue for another year before making a final decision. And well, we all know how it ended.

I’m convinced that Miya understands very well how contracts with mainstream record labels work; he knows how to separate business from art, so he wouldn’t have much of a problem with these kinds of weak side A songs, knowing that this trick worked for them for 20 years.

That being said, and as it was discussed before, many mucc bangers are into their B sides, so I’m looking for the other 2 new songs coming next month.

Listened to It with proper headpones.

It didn’t do much.
But we all warm up to it in two years or so :face_in_clouds:

It gives me a dejavu feeling like a copy & paste of different old songs from them…one of their most forgotable singles since long time ago. But lest wait for the B-sides, in 愛の唄 I feel Violet was much better than the main single, for example. But this single gives the feeling that once the current tour ends…it will be gone.

Sato-Miya relation…sometimes looked a bit toxic due to Miya’s attitude…

Btw, today they announced some kind of Lives streaming service…weird thing leave this out of the FC… I guess :yen_banknote:

The B side is out! any thoughts?

Definitely better than the title track. But nothing truly spectacular. I think it’s cozier and a bit more experimental. The third song is a little disjointed, but it’s not bad. It gives me vibes reminiscent of the Utagoe or Flight era.

Same. It would definitely fit Gokusai.

Also interesting: Never evergreen was created by Tatsuro, Yorukaze by Miya and Ibara by YUKKE (music and lyrics).

The two better songs weren’t written by Tatsuro :wilted_flower:

Yukke composition is always going for the jazzy so, this one was a different way to try different things i guess, with the piano solo. Miyas song is the most interesting, i enjoy the violin arrangements since -So-

this one’s not really doing it for me

Yeah sadly this has to be one of their weaker singles in a long time.

The verse is good in tatsuro’s song, miya’s feels like a mess, yukke’s just feel like a rehash of their older songs. Hoping for better stuff in the future.
