MUCC new single "Never Evergreen" release

So far they didnt show anything related in the FC communications. I wouldnt be surprised if before we get some PV or simialar for Lamucc’s release.

So, they played Never Evergreen today at Lunatic Fest. Don’t expect too much. It‘s their tipical mid rock ballad as heard many times before.

Well that’s disappointing. Truth be told I didn’t have high expectations. I still enjoy all their older stuff but I haven’t really enjoyed the last few albums. I’ll like one or two songs but that’s about it.

Pretty much same here…

I have enjoyed their recent stuff very much but the song title + artist look already had me not expecting too much from this one

Damn… generic chorus??

I don’t think that’s the issue. Their recent albums weren’t just poppy or one sided objectively. MUCC have always suffered from weak poppy singles, already in 2006 with Horizont.

Agree, Freesia and Diorama can enter this category perfectly.

I got what you want to say but what of their poppy singles do you think are bad? I think Horizont is good to be honest. Saishuu Ressha too, Kokoro no nai machi are also good ones around that time. But yeah their best songs are hidden on deep in their albums - Semishigure, Kinsenka, JAPANESE… the list is endless.

Listening to freesia for the first time was shocking but I ended Up liking It, specially the album version

Come on, Freesia, Kokoro no nai machi, Horizont (that crazy bass line :sign_of_the_horns: ), Ryusei or Heidi were a hell poppy singles, much better in my opinion than the Utagoe, Flight, Nirvana,Yakusoku, etc.

ryuusei is a timeless mucc track for me. they put something out like that again and i will be happy lol

Yep. As much as I love their heavier stuff generally, Ryuusei is one of the best songs they’ve ever written imo.

Agree. It’s interesting because the remake they did many years after totally don’t work. Some songs just cannot be redo, because they caught something too unique. It’s like they stop the time with these kind of songs.

I don’t see Ryuusei, Kokoro no nai machi and Horizont in the same category.
Freesia, Mother, Horizont, Nirvana, Cobalt, Classic, Timeless… they are all falling into the category for a safe poppy (maybe mid on the case of some)song. I don’t see them as failures or unlistenable, but as plain commercial songs, for the sake of the label demands or because is the trend of the time.
Utagoe is the 2000’s pop rock cliche song, and i love it.

Their re dos for me is to sound cleaner in voice and arrangements, maybe to reintroduce songs to potential new listeners… is 30 years of career.

I’ve been a fan back then and people hated it haha same with utagoe, flight and all the others

Yes, it’s 100% cyclical.

We should make a Mucc version of the Sonic Cycle meme

(That being said, I don’t like Horizont)

Seems they are trying to continue living off/milking FC members with overprized releases: https://55-69.com/news/27243 2 blu-rays + 2 CD from last tour for 25K yens
