NAZARE - 荊海-REBIBLE-

It’s out there so we can finally weigh in. Here’s a little sampler of the last track.

A general note: I feel that while the production on this release is cleaner than on past releases, it’s really not head and shoulders above where NAZARE releases usually are. We were theorizing about whether the production quality alone is worth re-recording, but it sounds like there are legitimate compositional tweaks!

a Vain you-再録-

One of those tracks I listen to all time. The bloodcurdling scream at the beginning is a nice touch. There’s a bit more harsh vocals and a bit less singing overall. No mumbling during the interlude. The rising guttural into scream at the end instead of the long scream is an interesting change. I think I could grow to like both.

Blink-再録-

Probably the track I listen to the least out of the three re-recordings. I’m listening to the version from 荊海 (-another Edition-), and the new take does sound crisper! Mio’s cathartic scream also feels much more impactful this time around. Maybe the guitars are a little cleaner too? Still essentially the same song.

無慈悲な蒼空-再録-

I think this track has the best new take. It’s not exactly a heavy song, but it has a quick pace and there’s a lot of layers to it. Drums and vocals on the new version still take center stage, but the opening really shows how meaty and thick Uta’s bass is this time around. You’s guitar definitely sounds more defined as well. Only thing I’m confused about is where the audio for the following video comes from, because it sort of uses the audio from this release, but then messes up near the end. The audio on the mini album is not messed up.

unknown-Unplugged-

Biggest risk on the mini-album, and it paid off! The closest comparison I can make is to Dir en grey’s unplugged rendition of THE FINAL. It’s got a whimsical, airy, bossa nova feel and elevates what was originally a bog standard NAZARE rock track to something much more memorable. I’m impressed this band of all bands was able to do this. It really shows how multi-dimensional this band is. I think this is my favorite song on the album!

メアリ-Unplugged-

I knew one of these was going to be a piano ballad, and the band chose Maria. I listened to the original a few times, felt it was an okay song, but nothing compelled me to revisit. It sits in the same tier and sound space as the original take of “unknown”. However, this unplugged rendition does not speak to me. It’s over seven minutes long and it’s just Mio and a dramatic piano - no drums! If you’re wondering how they can take a four minute song and make it seven, it’s because it goes slow. Real slow. It’s not offensive, but I’m itching for this to be over by 5:30.

Adolfism.Ⅵ

The most unexpected Adolfism there’s been so far. Every new version of this track has just upped the crazy and aggressive factor, with Adolfism.V being the craziest and aggressive of them all. Adolfism.VI veers off into a new direction. It’s aggressive and crazy like it’s brethren, but dare I say that NAZARE sound like they 're having fun playing this song?? The WHOA OA OA during the chorus took a bit of getting used to - did I mention there’s a chorus - but my brain eventually accepted it. At exactly 3 minutes, I also think this is the longest Adolfism there is. Fun stuff, tied with a Vain you for second favorite track.

What do you guys think?

I really like how much you have put your heart in the review. Appreciate

It sounds like perfect release for me with one little mistake. Songs from this CD is my top songs wrote by them. I really liked their previous attempt to make unplugged songs. BUT, from your review, メアリ would be missclick for me. I really like this madness from original take which will lacks in this version. I would pretend like it is another song than original.

I would like write own opinion but CD is unavailable for me because there is no auction (or i can’t find it properly heehee)

uknown wins for sure; if you’re gonna do an unplugged track, have fun with it, do something new, not just sad slow guitar/piano lol

diru’s had my favourite unpluggeds of literally any band bc of how interpretive they can be - it doesn’t sound like sadboi slow acoustic, but tracks that could have stood on their own as unique pieces.
Nazare’s unknown makes me feel like there’s another band aiming to do the same.

So, for that, they deserve a favourable comparison to one of dir en grey’s (imho) greatest strengths.

not sure why they felt the need to release this vers of Mary tho .-.

I loved what they did with Jessica and Ain’t Afraid to Die, the bossa nova remix’s are so great. Ik it’s slightly off topic, but do they have any more bossa nova remixs for their music?

No, this is the only one so far.
