glad i’m not the only one who thinks this!! it’s a nice album, i want to hear more like it~
there’s still some vkei spirit in there somehow; i’ve tried some jrock but to me there’s always something lacking that Sugar managed to maintain.
i think they’ll be fine w/ whoever sings for them next; Kai’s voice was nice but didn’t seem super critical to their sound imho?
& i’m really hoping he finds a nice band for him too, the guy’s got hella creativity and talent but this never didn’t seem like a weird fit for him lol
I don’t understand why they just dont get a new vocalist or why they went non-vkei for that matter. Kai is just famous for leaving any band at this point for whatever reason. It’s kinda odd to me. Eh it will be interesting to at least hear I guess the voices of instrumental members.
Those announcements always excites me and make me worried at the same time.
Having a group where every bandmember does vocals always give them a bigger connection and more spotlight in the music. But you also are worried that they just can’t sing.
I found they’re still listing copies of their first album on their webshop, so I’m attempting to snag one. I’ll follow up if I get my hands on it. It’s a shame .
Yes please!! Lmk what you think of it, even if you’re not into it - i’ll warn you it’s really “not vkei” but i prefer to think of it as “challenging the edge of what vkei can be”
Oh, I’ve been listening to them since they started (it’s a shame that’s the only release Kai did vo. for), I just never got around to purchasing a physical copy ;;. I agree with your assessment.
hey, how many of y’all have heard anclet, Kai’s new band yet?
i held off for a bit, running reasonlessly w/ my own assumption that Kai took off from sitc for want of a different sound. But finally checking out the three songs they’ve so far published, i’m surprised how much of what i loved about sitc comes through here!
i’m so happy to see he’s kept up the soft/pop rock casual mood i heard in these guy’s first album. Which is strange for me to say - i usually can’t stand when a vkei band goes so soft! But Kai’s voice is so suited to it, he really draws so much out from subtleties and these new three tracks are proof that wasn’t only a one-off for him.
here’s to hoping anclet can head again towards the absolute masterpiece that was seasonal change, and the other three from this project can show up again with something new being worked on…
