9goats black out, the true light of my life. choosing 10 songs was extremely difficult but here it goes!!!
1. 690min
2. belzebuth
3. in the rain
4. 甘美な死骸
5. lilith
6. lithium (this is an instrumental )
7. raw
8. 揺り籠
9. tanatos
10. 落日
#10 is my favorite song by them. like if you ever want a feel for this band/never listened to them before, this is the track to do it. ryo’s voice is unmatched. i would also highly suggest #4 which imo is their best single.
also, idk japanese at all so i hope what i copied and pasted is accurate
I have to go with An Cafe (even though I saw them 8 (9 this July) times already.
SE
LOCK ON ☆The☆ O NEW Sekai (Imho, An Cafe’s greatest deep cut, truly deserving of a lead single position. It has everything that makes a great An Cafe song. Catchy melody, call and response parts with the audience, that BASS… A classic.)
Touhikairo (Oldie but goodie, back when it was still cool to like An Cafe. I love when the second song of the setlist picks the energy even higher than the first one. I truly love all of their heavier songs, but this one remains my fav. I can’t believe I saw them 8 times and I still never heard that it live ffs)
Omocha (Another heavier, older deep cut song, because why not? We only have 10 songs, no need to pull punches. I was extatic to see that they performed it live last year. There’s hope people!)
Inazuma no Senritsu (Another deep cut from their kinda forgotten Hikagyaku Ziprock album. Even though they toured in Europe for that album they didn’t play it. But come on, that intro alone is peak visual kei. The thunder sound, the harpsichord, the choir, the DRAMA it’s incredible. And the guitar, while simple, goes really hard.)
YOU (Let’s cool things off with their best ballad. Nothing more to add. Except maybe “please play it in Paris!”)
Etcetera (Okay, a bit of cheating there, but not really. I wanted to include a NYAPPY in the world song in there, but didn’t know which one. Then I remembered that they always have the etcera section during their section where Miku goes backstage and the 4 other have the stage. They usually act some silly plays or do some kind of parodies, but from time to time they play that incredible medley of all 5 Nitw songs, so yeah. I’ll take that one, thank you!)
amazing blue (Such an underrated gem. It may not have been the comeback people wanted, but it’s the comeback we deserved. Plus I’m a sucker for sections of songs made for people to sing live, and the lalalas at the end are exactly that.)
Laugh Song (THEE song of their major period (2015-2018) I get so emotional everytime I hear it. And again, I LOVE the way the audience sings the last prechorus multiple times a capella before the final chorus.)
BondS~Kizuna~ (My favourite An Cafe song ever. The extended outro live goes SO hard, and it’s always so cool to see a sea of red towels in the air as everyone shouts and raises their fists.)
Smile Ichiban. Ii (The ultimate An Cafe concert closer. It’s fun, it’s dancey, it’s also a tad bittersweet, it’s perfect. You didn’t live until you shouted the final “Taiyou sa” back at Miku.)
Man, doing this kinda depressed me, as I know we’ll only get the “boring” classics in Paris next July :’)
Versailles would be my obvious choice and now seeing them in July for this festival - hard to like, realistically guess what the setlist is going to be, but I can tell you what I want it to be:
Intially, I wanted to do a MDM setlist (surprise, surprise ) but I had a really hard time choosing songs because I love so many of them equally.
So, I settled for someone else who was not featured in this topic yet:
Miyavi - but we just ignore the last 15 years, so it’s going to be some kind of vintage set:
Coin Lockers Baby (starting with a bang)
Are you ready to rock?
Ossan Ossan Ore nanbo
JPN Pride (slowing down a little)
Selfish Love
I Love You, I Love You, I Love You, And I Hate You
Coo Quack Cluck
Dear my friend
Freedom Fighters (preparing to end the show with some more energy again)
What’s my name?
As an encore:
Smells like Teen Spirit (I really love this version. OK, the Cover is from the ignored time frame of the last 15 years, but the song itself isn’t, soooo…I’m willing to make an exception )
I’m loving this thread. Also as someone who hasn’t really listened to Versailles before, I’m surprised there’s no Ascendead Master on the setlists. I’ll have to give them a deeper look.
Please don’t apologize, the more tunes the better. Also I absolutely love Scheat. It was one of the first songs I ever showed an ex-girlfriend that was interested in my kind of J-rock and she loved it.
Also love OZ so thanks for sharing. I’ve never actually listened to UnsraW before so I’ll check those tracks out
