I was looking forward for new huge single with many types or mini-album… But it seems they will release 1/2 more singles to then release a mini album/album to spring somehow.

Nice, this campaign means an album is coming. I’m sure we will see one more single before a full album next spring/summer.

Looking forward to a potential album next, hopefully! But of course gotta peep the single too. :eyes:

Genuine question (and I’m likely to offend many people here): has Pura released anything interesting/different for the last 10 years? I haven’t delved into the albums, but every single I’ve listened could have perfectly fit on some of their first albums. The only difference being that I wouldn’t remember them.
I kind of stopped listening to them after Donna Donna, so feel free to recommend the album I should listen to after that one.

I’m biased, because I’m one of the rare breeds that prefers their late-career work, but I think all the albums of the last 10 years have been great.

Personally, I would recommend ammonite/Ink/echo from 2011/2012/2014 if you’re looking for something that sounds very different than Donna Donna and earlier.

The last few albums have a bit of same-same going on, I won’t lie, but they are still enjoyable listens nonetheless if you’ve like Pura at some point in your life.

I would venture to say that their singles are usually weaker than their full albums. They are generally the tracks I like least on the full albums as they’re more ‘safe’ sounding and generic.

define what is interesting/different to us (?)

from the last 10 years they had nice releases, some weak singles and so. But the last albuns shows how they are keeping fresh for what they are known.

Since u stopped to listen them 10 yeats ago… Lets gooooooo

We have the Ammonite album. Its good album with the track 13th friday, thats brings to fans the huge wish to hear more Shoegaze songs by Ryutaro’s voice.

The album has its brilliance and energy in the songs that I think are the best:

“Moonlight” (such a great single)
退屈マシン (brings the vibe of Ghost, but lighter)
雪月花 (Another song reminiscent of old singles, but with its own identity on the album)

Like the songs アリア, デュエット,さびしんぼう, ブルーバック and spooky. That bring their own world, but as I said. they are keeping fresh for what they are known.

~~

the next album is インク. Such AWESOME album with rebuild songs (from Hide and seek album) and the new atmosphere and certain jokes they made with the sounds of the album and added some small changes to the single songs that made up the album’s playlist.

The songs are relentless and follow their rhythm together in an enjoyable puzzle, from the begining to end. One of my favorites.

~~

“echo” unique mini album with 7 tracks that I think are quite good. It’s light, lively and enjoyable to listen to. But not super impressive like インク. It already had a feel of what the next full album would be like.

~~

剥製’s sound is driven by the three singles “マイム, 落花, スロウ”, which feature incredible artwork by 劇団イヌカレー. Its elements fit perfectly with the flow of the whole album. The division between track 1 and track 12 shows that the album can be played from the end to the beginning.

The physical versions of this album are incredibly beautiful.

~~

doorAdore album follows almost the same pattern as the 剥製 album, but with weak singles to be honest (I think only the single track “雨中遊泳” is the best on the album). For a moment I thought this was the end of them, but I realised that this album was an attempt at the previous one.

But because I’m a big fan, I learnt to like this album. The extra content on the DVDs versions are magnificent. Plastic Tree has a strong suit when it comes to live shows. I think that’s the biggest factor why they’re still active today.

~~

their latest album 十色定理 only has the two weak singles (潜像, インサイドアウト). they’ve been bold enough to release an album containing 10 CDs, each with its own artwork and pre-production tracks, showing fans how they were in the studio and how they work on the new songs. I own this album and its two versions. I can say that it was worth it for the well-done work on each CD and how they try their best to deliver their art both visually and musically, even though there are ups and downs.

My favourite track on this album is 月に願いを which made me so happy to know that they were still alive.

I hope I’ve helped you. Take your time to savour each album and then feel free to tell us about your experience with them.

I smell a new album coming

Yeah, it could definitely be because of that.

Well, less generic than songs such as mime, for instance. By different, it just felt to me like they were staying in a comfort zone. I don’t mind a band changing, but when they lose their essence, that’s when I lose interest in them.

Anyway, I had kind of listened to ammonite when it was released, just in a very bad quality and I only listened to it properly yesterday. It’s great. Moonlight already was one of my favourite of theirs and it feels like the whole album is on the same level. I’m now listening to ink.

Thanks both of you for making me want to dive again into the Pura spiral.

Fingers crossed their next single will be a strong one

Awesome! If you give them some time, I’m sure you’ll find lots to like. The nice thing about being out of them for 10 years is you have a lot of new music to catch up on

ammonite is pretty experimental but the diversity of all the songs makes it really fun. Ink takes some liberties as well, with songs like Piano Black, but puts it altogether in a nice little package. I actually think Ink’s singles were pretty good. Hopefully you enjoy it too.

This is your personal stuff. But i got u :upside_down_face:

youre welcome.

I believe each old band has their own place in confort zone. They dont need prove that they are good or try something more then the people expect. Try something new or different requires a lot of time, money and formal stuff with the label.

Plastic tree tries bring slowly what is new or something different. They dont need do a lot like another major bands. They have own place in japanese music… its more then 20 years of activites.

Another point is the label. I personally dont like the label, its seems hard to keep what they want to do and what they cant do. I have this feeling somehow. Its was clear when Ryutaro announced his solo project and i could feel such freedom in his songs and how is has a lot of fun with the releases. Totally different in Plastic Tree in the last years.

A sad thing is that Ryutaro voice is fadding way slowly. Its been discussed about this… how is voice is slowly begin different between these years. In some point they will disband and i know that and one of the reasons is his voice.

But i am glad to follow them for decades and thankful for huge work and longevity.

Plastic tree was always a palette cleanser to me and their last single was really good, but i won’t mind another heavy songs like Ghost, Sabbath, and Hate red. Any newer songs like these on their later albums?

There’s not many, but for heavier Pura songs on more recent albums:

ammonite—spooky
doorAdore—scenario
Dona Dona—Gagaji
Hakusei—Thrashing Pumpkin Death March

becoming a stan tbh

Well, I actually like the artwork. It reminds of a Zi: Kill picture, but really processed.
