I usually ship several packages that don’t exceed the value of the tax. I buy by watching the sales and auctions websites every day and as I accumulate I ship them out accordingly.
Sometimes someone comes along selling a collection of various items, but I check the quality of the products and then decide whether it’s worth it or not. For shipping, I always use FedEx int. prio. Packages arrive within 4 days.

A relative passed away a week ago and his funeral will be held right after New Year’s. A shitty end and beginning to a year.
In other (more positive) news, in case anyone here remembers, I talked about building an electric guitar a couple of years ago and finished it at the end of November! I’ll try to take a couple of pictures and post them here at some point

There’s a lot of alarming things about to go on in the US in terms of politics, personal finance, etc., and while it’s valuable to stay caught up in the goings on, I can’t pretend that having to stay caught up on recent events is one of the most mentally and emotionally draining things I’ve ever done.
Take breaks and take care of your mental, folks.

My local record store got a used copy of Heritage by Opeth on vinyl, probably their rarest album on record. I bit the $100 bullet, emotionally committed to parting with those funds, then got a call the next day that they sold it before they could set it aside.

It’s not the first time, sadly. Throughout quite some years by now the same thing happened for several Christmas markets.
That doesn’t make it any better though.
just personal imho but a helpful question for me has been: “how will learning about this bring me to better action / interaction?”
and that definitely doesn’t always end up in “it won’t” answers! But sometimes it does, and that helps delineate between doomscrolling and learning/investigation.
Something i’ve learned from reading hzb translations on twitter is that publicly sharing your group’s success and strengths can lead to far more good than trying to find the specifics on the enemy’s advances.
The latter can demoralize and depress individuals (esp when the info might not even be true and purposefully exaggerated) whereas the former can galvanize support in communities and lead to action by showing how it can be meaningful.
