I don’t know what pisses me off more. The fact that AI is so prevalent in creative spaces, or the fact that when generative AI first hit the scene, the arts/performing is what the industry came after first.
Not using its research to help advance the human race forward, optimize bog-standard corporate work, or solve any real-world issues, no, let’s train it to replace VFX artists, voice actors, and make Spongebob say fuck.
I’ve been hearing about the ‘AI bubble’ being close to bursting, well it needs to hurry up. It’s the only thing making economists pretend we’re not in a recession atm. We’re cooked otherwise.
Nearly every time I hear or read someone describe something as “love it or hate it”, they follow it up with “Me? I think it’s okay” and that’s when I’m reminded that words do not mean things, actually.
Was doing some end-of-the-year cleaning and found a bunch of SHOXX magazines I had tucked away, including one with a nude photoshoot with Sakito. Early 2010’s was wild lmao
George (LADIESROOM) is talking out of pocket right now. Hopefully that doesn’t piss YOSHIKI off. Oh he’s such a perfectionist in every aspect of life so it makes sense why X will never release another album because YOSHIKI pushes everyone to another level and the level of commitment is impressive. I’m sorry, I love YOSHIKI but that’s Axl Rose levels of bullshit.
Also thank you for your throughtful reply. I find it interesting that you mentioned the late 90s, and then I remember the vibes of Shazna and that one cheesyyyyy song from Penicillin.
This is probably for me, plus early 2010s. Somehow in reading your reply, xtripx comes to mind a lot, and probably a lot of bands in that vein — the feeling I get from music then really feels like I could change my life or the world. I’m still very fascinated that these kind of bands don’t dominate the current discourse around vkei, when I thought it would be the case as a teen.
(Funny enough I came across what probably was your vids on xtripx the other day)
god i remember seeing that issue at the japanese bookstore as a teen. I was with my mom and I SO wanted to look at it but I was afraid of what she’d say. Good times. I miss SHOXX and all the other magazines
Throwing my money at Rock and Read, praying it lives for the next decade. They tend to feature more seasoned bandmen on their covers so it’s gotta happen right?
Finally got my car fixed, went a month walking around town in below freezing temps while I saved back for it and the mechanic said it’d be fixed Tuesday and got it done in a day and even brought me the car back (he’s about an hour away). Stupid alternator died in the winter but we’re good now. I’ve been getting sick the past month from all the cold so I’m over being without a working car and now I won’t get pneumonia xD.
Thought about buying a couple of books, looked them up online. There’s a store in Helsinki that has them in stock (in English) but then I realized that I’d still want to see them in person before buying, just to see how the different versions differ in quality. So despite trying to save myself the trouble of having to go to Helsinki it seems I still have to do it
