Kikoku-Tenshou (鬼哭転生; Wailing Demon Reincarnation) skillful use of 4 kanji format, from their 1st album, imo really lets u know ur in for a big ol nerdfest, absolutely irresistible. Thought Into Kanji. here u have it as “reincarnation”, which imo is easier for western audience to understand, but just FYI for other nerds, it can also be “transmigration” which is now a WHOLE light novel genre compared to when this album was released lol. someone DM me if it’s a reference to a 四字熟語 actually cause i never found it if so. iirc matatabi was into light novels like Baaaack in the Day
陰陽師 (Onmyoji)
亥の子唄 (Inokouta; Boar’s Day Song)
式を駆る者 (Shiki wo Karumono; The One Who Spurs the Shiki) this is basically just describing onmyouji and im a dumbass
歪む月 (Yugamu Tsuki; Warped Moon) whys the moon fucked up??
がいながてや (Gainagateya; How about that!) is that even japanese!!
Kojin-Rasetsu (煌神羅刹; Shimmering Rakshasa) just looking at this title summons sparkles and guitar
おらびなはい (Orabinahai; Shout!) “omg i bet this is another ehime word”
卍 (Manji; Swastika) yes definitely intrigued
Chimimouryou (魑魅魍魎; Evil River and Mountain Spirits) did yall know this kanji was trending amongst the Internet Youth recently? i was like… where the hell yall learn this u dont even care about youkai
魔王 (Maou; The Devil)
百々目鬼 (Dodomeki)
鬼一口 (Onihitokuchi)
Kongoukyuubi (金剛九尾; Sturdy Dazzling Ninetails) ugh POWRFUL. GET THEM
蒼き独眼 (Aoki Dokugan; One Blue Eye) “DATE MASAMUNE DATE MASAMUNE DATE MASAMUNE!!!”
組曲「九尾」~ 殺生石 (Sessho-seki, “Killing Stone”) obviously then i had to read the stories
喰らいあう (Kuraiau; Devour one another) THIS IS SOOO CLOSE TO NOT BEING JAPANESE BUT IT IS WHY IS HE SO CLEVER. THEY STILL HAVENT USED A WESTERN WORD TECHNICALLY
「鬼子母神」鬼子母人
*
matatabi had to write a whole separate book about kishibojin lmao liner notes were not enough
青天の三日月 (Seiten no Mikazuki; Crescent Moon in an Azure Sky) DATE MASAMUNE AGAINNn
(also are u missing some single-only songs? liek the 2nd date masamune song 紺碧の双刃? ) also i was intrigued by how the titles make a reference to the color blue
雲は龍に舞い、風は鳳に歌う (Kumo wa ryuu ni mai, fuu wa outori ni utau; Clouds dance to the dragon, winds sing to the phoenix) *it’s just. elegant *
故に其の疾きこと風の如く(Yueni sono hayaki koto kaze no gotoku; Therefore, it’s swiftness is like the wind)
而して動くこと雷霆の如し (Shikashite ugoku koto raitei no gotoshi; With the Mobility of a Thunderbolt) i love thse titles because of takeda shingen, the art of war, ancient chinese wisdom and historical japanese translations of it etc. it took me two seconds to match the number 11s on these albums to each other and a little longer to make a subbed video . so … epic …
雷舞 (Raibu; Thunder Dance) this is just incredibly cute kanji usage, i think theyve used it before on RAIBU dvds ahaha
