My misses says the music sounds like electrocore, (think like, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas). She also likes when Kuro’s voice sounds edgy in the music, which this one does apparently. I’m excited for it, despite the potentially cheesy concept from the title, I wouldn’t worry. This band has always managed to have really deep and meaningful lyrics. (Yet easy to understand. Unlike when I translate most other vkei bands songs I’m like, what the heck are they talking about )
Anyway, I’m sure they’ll end their activity off on a high note, so I can’t wait for these possibly last new songs from them!
The third track was composed by their bassist, which is his first song in over three years. I remember the demo was showcased over a year ago now, glad it finally released. If this song never came out before they disbanded, I was going to wonder whatever happened to it.
As expected of TaJI, Shooting the MOON seems to take inspiration from hide with all those sugary guitar sections. The verses are definitely sung in a very edgy way, takes me back to the vocals at the start of their career.
Seems the new songs were concepted with reflecting both the light and dark side of the moon respectively. Good release overall!
This is one of the only releases the band had no lyrics posted for it online, so me and my friend went ahead and did our best to translate by ear. Some really cool lines in here!
LYRICS:
Shooting the MOON
Shake off my cowardice and seize it
Release a single blow without hesitation
I’m afraid of making a mistake
Blocked in all by myself
Expectations are gradually increasing
Until my place in the world is taken away
On nights where my heart hurts this much
I imagine myself to be strong
Shooting the MOON
Shake off my cowardice and seize it
Release a single blow without hesitation
In this tailwind with intoxicating momentum
I’ll snatch you with me and let the light shine
To a far away place that can’t be disturbed by anyone
Until we reach that moon
No matter what it takes
On nights where my heart hurts like this
I push my weak self to death
If I embrace the moment that only exists now
I can envision my strength
Shooting the MOON
Shake off my cowardice and seize it
Release a single blow without hesitation
In this tailwind with intoxicating momentum
I’ll snatch you with me and let the light shine
