just some bit of ryo news is he seems back at it after being hospitalized for a (benign) rectal polyp. seems he has a history of cancer in his family, though luckily he received good news and has since been discharged from the hospital.

As I said on the chat, very nice live on zaiko. It was their first one-man show. It’s really surprising, I think the keyboard guy add a nice touch to the band, it gives a unique feeling. He a bit abuse of the percussive industrial sound ( the stuff he keeps hitting on the video ‘heart’ on YouTube ), he does this all the time. Takeo as always, creative, with Naoki. It doesn’t feel like their 2nd live together. You can smell the experience.
A bit sad that it’s a session band, I am not sure they are gonna record those songs in studio.
Anyway, livestream is a bit expensive, but if you want to support them, it’s a nice way to do it. They deserve it.

it’s cute that other scene girlies still make nods to collset in 2023, but this is the shit that VK needs rn.
I’m really glad karyu is free from the snoozefest that angelo has been since 2012, and there’s finally some forward movement in the scene again. it’s fun, it’s catchy, it’s heavy enough, ryo is delivering singing-wise. HEART still remains the best song in that live.
I imagine we’re getting a PV/some official release for the love song first, judging by video backdrop for just that track?

@nekkichi did you watch the full live ? I think some songs are much better than ‘Heart’. ( "Seeds’ is impactful )
If they record this with a good production, it could sounds h.u.g.e. ( i don’t want some kind of demo like they did fort heart : ( )

Mm. Sounds pretty rough in many parts. I feel like the melodies need work.
Hopefully they refine and it sounds better on release. Right now I’m getting weak NUL vibes, and I love D’espa and Ryo.

I agree some songs are so so. I felt this for maybe 2 songs. The rest is very good. I recommend to listen to full songs. ( Ryo screaming voice is amazing, i love when he gets mad )

I’ll take your word for it. I refuse to believe the project will suck with these dudes in it! Ryo does have a superb screaming voice, we really don’t get to hear it enough.

On this live there is also a cover of ’ marry of blood ’ by d’espairsray… this song really fits ryo’s voice very well. The screaming chorus, god. (I’m not someone who often like screaming voices, for many bands, it doesn’t sound natural to my ears. It’s just too much)
On the little negative side, I think Karyu is a bit staying on his comfort area for guitar parts. I wish he could try different things, be more creative by improving his guitar skill. I forgive him, because he is still a good composer.
I’m so sad i didn’t capture the live (OBS on mac is a pain), hopefully they will do another livestream for their next tour. I’ll try to record it.

That’s too bad. I just use the built-in screen recorder with Soundflower to record lives on my Mac; I couldn’t get the hang of OBS.

I went back to the zaiko website, expecting maybe there is an offer for the people who already bought the livestream. Like an extension for few days. It seems there aren’t, you have to pay again. very bad system to be honest.
