Wish it was 3 new songs… but I adore CHILDREN OF DESPAIR and Sayonara no Hate so I’ll give them a pass.

Undead 13+2 is a good place to start. It’s essentially a “best of” album that reworks and cleans up a lot of their older releases all onto one cohesive album.
Master of Romance still holds up pretty well too despite being inconsistent. The singles from that album are solid and “Swallow Rain” is one of my favorite tracks from their entire discography.
The Trend Killer is under rated but one of my favorites by them. It’s good if you’re looking for a more indie sound, but with a bit of bite to it.
Some individual track shoutouts: “little prayer” is very catchy, “recall” is a great ballad, and “Aka chouchou” has a place in my heart for being so rough sounding. It has a early-years GazettE sound to it for me.

Dang a whole year for just the single and it’s old stuff? I will say that I think his vocals have improved so much since the earlier days that I’m sure these will sound way better but I wish it was another album instead. Wonder if they’ll stick with one new release a year from now on.

They’re one of my favorites but early on Mao was not a very good singer so keep that in mind
That being said don’t ignore the deep cuts. Some of my all time favorite songs are unpopular sadie songs like newage slicer, blue irony, dustin fucker life, rock n roll stinky people, loud up generation, the long title on the grieving the dead soul single, the original sexual affection, etc.

Which releases do you think of?
Can’t forget M.F.P. (Malicious Female Pigs) from the GRUDGE OF SORROW single. COLD BLOOD is a pretty fun album as well with songs like deathtopia and Graceful Angel.
I also really like THE BULLET STORM mini-album to round out the three mini-campaign they did in what, 2005-2006?

I think Sadie had a similar situation to Scapegoat; not sure if either Mao or Haru got much better at singing necessarily but both basically turned on pitch correction and compression in vocal compression when they switched labels early career
Like i listen to earliest scapegoat and i think WOW that’s some especially raw presentation of his voice, it sounds about straight off the mic, which absolutely isn’t what vkei has me expecting, so it’s almost off-putting at first. Everyone says that’s when he didn’t know how to sing, but his style and technique seem identical when he’s on the label, just up to processing standards.
Compare to Ruki who actually changed his style completely, moving his voice from his nose to his throat between Disorder and the singles following.
TL;DR imho w/ Mao and others i think we’re hearing more of a difference in vocal processing than skill/style

to be fair; they have always been re-recording their songs since 2007. they have never been happy with their sound til now. as Mitzuki put it “sadie was always jealous of girugamesh’s tone.” so, i would expect a lot of songs to be re-recorded and released with any upcoming singles. the recent lives gave us 8 songs that haven’t been released with new studio versions. with these 2 new ones, that sounds like they possibly have more than enough material for another Revival Of release.
i totaly understand if an artist ends up wanting to re-record their older stuff ever decade or so. it’s like wannting to achieve your real vision after you finally had the ability to upgrade to a marshall full stack from the line six spider you used to record. i keep going back to the old sadie and as much as i love it, it sounds like hot steaming garbage most of the time. i for one am thankful for sadie and ryo taking the time to give us the art they truely wanted us to experience while giving us new music. this new single is just the begining and i can’t wait to see what else is in store. the Revival of Sadie has been amazing to me.

i was so disappointed when i found out how butchered sayonara no hate was on undead 13+2. the shock edge compilation cd version was so much better, without all of the autotune. mao’s vocals were so raw, i hope the remake will sound like that, if not better.
