OH. YEAH. I like how youve got everything balanced, but GODDAMN the guitars are so so muddy, that they need to be brickwalled.
Saw your update to this post but would be wondering if possibly because they were using such good equipment on their end they forget that we’re using very standard listening devices? Similar to how dark recent movies/shows are.
I was thinking something similar. But I have way to prove or disprove that idea. I’ve heard this is why recording engineers keep all sorts of headphones around, so they can run their work through each of them to see what they sound like.
Maybe this is Ryo’s style too? To have the bass low but not too low, and to have the guitars pushed up to give the illusion of a wider soundscape? Who can say…
The biggest problem is not really on the bass level.
It’s more like there are too much compression/limiting as a whole. He wants to have powerful, wide and loud mixes. The problem is when you are too extrem with the settings, it’s getting unpleasant, tiring to listen to. I can only listen to 1 or 2 songs like that in a row. After I need to rest my ears. ( I don’t listen very loud, and I have a very good headphone and monitor system )
I gotta say as someone that doesn’t mind Ryo’s mixing, this is dope. I love Trivium and Jinjer a lot because of how present their bass is despite the crazy guitar work. Thanks for this Zeus.
Is it against the rules to ask for your mix in a Zipped file? If so, I’ll just rip from YT.
Unfortunately I’m not allowed to provide it here because it’s against the rules.
All good dawg!!
