Hey guys, I want to open this topic [Selling Clothing / Shoes in Tokyo 東京 古着買取 ] for some tips / experiences you may have ?
I have been watching some guides on YouTube, researched for some brands / companies who buy second hand clothing / shoes, my Japanese is poor, and want to find out more about which is (are) the best in terms of good value when selling to them ?
I am planning to go to Japan in mid October, and I have some old / also unused (new) clothing and Shoes from high-street to luxury fashion brands, please share with me some tips from your experience ?
All you need to know about is that you will find EVERYTHING and sell EVERYTHING you want or you need in mercari sometimes cheaper sometimes higher than in 古着屋 (except closetchild I think… but it’s mostly lolita second-hand, and they will buy your item for 100 yen to sell for 10.000… ugh)
Hmmm I have experience with 2nd street as a buyer (once 笑)、found a gorgeous coat for 5.000 yen but the same item on mercari was like 100.000 yen in the different color 笑
If you HAVE to sell to a physical store then your best bet is to go to a place that specializes in the specific brand you’re trying to sell. They won’t give you a ton of money but it will be better than going to mode off or 2nd street.
People here use mercari to sell branded stuff because the 2nd hand shops don’t pay very much.
Yes, it’s kind of like ebay. In that case, you’ll have to find shops that deal in the brands of the clothes you have.
For well-known brands that are popular in Japan (e.g Yohji Yamamoto), you can generally google search [The brand] + 高価買取 to find shops like that.
Eg.
ヨウジヤマモト 高価買取
If the clothes aren’t from popular brands then I guess you can take them to 2nd Street or something like that. Ragtag doesn’t take non-branded, non-designer clothes. 2nd street won’t give you a lot of money for your clothes, so don’t expect to get anything other than small change in return.
