Shinya (LUNA SEA) has passed away

Oh my god… he was really excited to return, and this happened…

Rest in peace:disappointed_face::heart:

Rest in peace my beloved

RIP legend. One of the most influential drummers on the VK scene. How sad…

Never really listened to Luna Sea. But it’s clear across damn near all the bands I do rock with that hes influenced them in some way. RIP to a GOAT.

Just heard about the news. What a deeply sad day. May he rest in peace. The scene is smaller today

i’ve been in denial about every single visual kei artist leaving this world recently so Shinya will just be added to the list I guess, like my brain just can’t process it. That’s seriously too hard to believe.

I mean, may he rest in peace and hope he left accomplishing most of what he wanted in life and left serenely

A long post by GACKT talking about how envious he was of Shinya and LUNA SEA as a whole and how Shinya may have been in the back on drums but he was the heart of the band.

This sucks. Way too young to die. I was never the greatest Luna Sea fan, but still have all the albums and listen to them occasionnally. Like them or not, they are THE most influential band that made the VK scene at large what it is. Huge, huge loss… I was lucky to catch the “Promise to the Brave” concert in 2011 while on business in Japan. Shinya was such a cool drummer.

So much outpouring of love from fellow bandmen and juniors :smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear: each post gives me so much comfort but it’s heartbreaking each time to read how kind he was to everyone…

That being said, Shinya was also the first drummer for YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz back in 2010 (also for the European dates).

Damn I remember seeing him happy in variety shows on tv just some time ago, he really looked so happy and kind.

Cancer is the worst.

Noooo What a shame, we’ve lost another great musician, may he rest in peace. I knew him through Luna Sea and the project he collaborated on with Toshi from X Japan, Jun from Gotcharocka, and Toya from Gotcharocka. Truly sad news; my deepest condolences to all his loved ones.

Rest in peace, Shinya. He’s one of the most influential musicians in my life, and I sincerely hope his family can mourn in peace. He’s a genuine legend who will never be forgotten, and the way he inspired me and so many others will always have had an effect on many of our lives. I wish the best for his family and everyone else.

Damn, this hurts.
He looked so happy when he appeared at Lunatic Fest.

RIP Shinya.

This is so sad. He was so young. Colon cancer is such a difficult one to overcome. Such a huge loss. Rest in peace.

Luna ( Sugizo’s daughter ) posts on her Twitter account made me teary eyed a bit :smiling_face_with_tear: she called him Uncle Shinya, cute and heartbreaking at the same time

Way too young. Rest in Peace, Shinya.

Toshi (X Japan)posted on his Ameblo about Shinya, with a lovely cover of Stand by Me. From what I understand, they covered the song together for a charity event.
