Songs with weird transitions

This is the topic for all those songs with weird transitions, whether they’re good or bad!

I’m not sure what the surf rock section in the middle is supposed to be.

The Gregorian monk chanting will never get old.

This middle part here is quite unexpected.

What else y’all got?

Almost everything from 蟻 (Ari)?
Maybe DaizyStripper’s Hatsuyume.

First thing that came in my mind after reading the title of this topic was the intro song of the Anime “Dan Da Dan”:

The first and seond half of this intro sound almost like two different songs :grinning: But I like that song, it’s quite catchy.

IDK what the middle is supposed to be. A bomb dropping?

SCREW has a lot of weird transitions.

That transition from dark verse to light chorus is a visual kei staple, but this one seems more disjointed than usual.

DIR EN GREY - 冷血なりせば (REIKETSU NARISEBA)
I’ve felt since its release that UROBOROS was a spiritual successor to MACABRE in many ways. Here’s the most obvious example in Reiketsu Nariseba’s bizarre ambient break which echoes the Gregorian chant in HYDRA.

MergingMoon - When A Phantom Becomes A Fact
Insane Frankenstein’s monster of a track that doesn’t know what it wants to be from section to section.

Malice Mizer - Syunikiss~二度目の哀悼~
The song randomly cuts out at 2:16 to the sounds of birdsong, whispering, and violin samples. Imho, the track is a 10/10 except for this part which kills the flow.

BABYMETAL - いいね!- Iine!
This band probably has a ton of songs that could fit into this category, as “we good because we random LOL” is their entire gimmick. This one takes the cake, with extreme metalcore dispersed through hyperpop and electro-dance, and a very unexpected hip hop section starting at 1:33.

I always assumed that the weird transition in Syunikiss was meant to represent something in the overarching story being told. Mental state? Time travel? Scene change? Even still, that doesn’t make it a great transition. It’s way too jarring both going into and coming out of it.

No one’s mentioning Sukekiyo, eh? Alright, I’ll start with this one
