sukekiyo - DOMINUS

It’s really not.

For a moment I thought he was going to go on Bon Jovi´s mode after that “It´s my life”.

That part is probably a parody of this.

They could have parodied a better song
@CAT5 This song is very prophetical, it seems.

I have no energy to try to understand the super “deep” metaphors etc in the MV.

I can only say that this song will easily be in my top 3 worst songs of 2025, absolutely awful. It almost made my ears bleed. Same for the video, just terrible like I am at a loss of words what to say about it…
It doesn’t matter if Kyo “trolled” us here, this is an official single that they sell (and expensive af), and it is absolute garbage. They should be ashamed of themselves for doing this to the fans. And kyo “pretending” to be that bearded AI guy is not funny at all.

Seeing how much It triggered people, It was worth It.

It’s not a bad song per-say, but if the AI trend continues it’ll be the harbinger of the end of Visual Kei.

Knowing Kyo, very likely (and I might be overthinking here but he is most likely laughing his ass off over our reactions)

Pretty lame of him if its like that though

making art to be inflammatory to your audience rather than being genuinely provocative with purpose would be lame as fuck.

Personally I think Kyo just has a dumb obsession with AI - I don’t think it’s about “triggering” anyone, but if it is that’s the lamest shit he’s ever done.

It will pass. It’s just a fashion effect. Kyo like to surf on trends. He’ll soon realize IA is bullshit.

In some ways, this is nothing new. Kyo loves to be controversial and has deliberately played with shocking imagery and lyrics from the beginning. He knows everyone will hate this, so he’s capitalising on that rage. It’s got loads of people talking about it, so from that standpoint, it’s accomplished… something.

From an artistic and conceptual standpoint, it’s fucking atrocious. I absolutely hate everything about this and will never defend it. It sucks.

This is a valid point!! For me it feels particularly bad in the context of Sukekiyo since they’ve primarily privileged their artistry over any edginess. When Diru did it with TDIM, while I wasn’t a fan of it at all, it was just some dumb thing attached to another unremarkable Diru single. I like both bands, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like Diru has a lower standard of quality than Sukekiyo; something that’s “shocking” and kind of lazy fits perfectly fine in the former’s catalogue, but this feels like a blemish on Sukekiyo’s more carefully-curated catalogue. If the song was a banger it’d be easier to ignore, but it’s pretty unexciting and reminiscent of their past work - gives me Creeper or Sesshoku vibes with a splash of their brighter, sillier sounds. Maybe the Mystery Na final version will give the release some worth :man_shrugging:

Oh well. I still like the band, this is just such a deflating single - you’re right that it does track with Kyo’s MO, I just wish they pulled out a song that could justify it.

also I’ve actually watched the video now and it’s like they fed a machine the Mosaic Shoujo video, the aesthetics and some of the editing remind me of that.

i really don’t get how people are saying the song is awful? feels like just conflating their opinion of the video with the song itself
it’s nothing special imo but rather a pretty standard sukekiyo-fare, would fit perfectly on INFINITUM.

If it was a deep album cut I think it wouldn’t have nearly as negative a reception (it also wouldn’t have a video in that case). IMO they’ve set a really high bar with their singles. They have really good singles, especially the last few years, and this (to me) is comfortably the least remarkable thing they’ve released as one. Attach it to everything else - the video, the general aesthetic of the DOMINUS release and the fact that this is the sole original new song carrying it - it’s pretty hard to feel any positive enthusiasm for it. Happy you’re having fun with it tho!

For the record, I said the song was aggressively mid. It’s not bad but there’s nothing which makes me want to listen again and again. I heard it once and that was enough for me. Kinda sad. I’ve always found sukekiyo to be this impenetrable band I cannot get into, and I always seem to pick the worst times to try them out.

Nope. Infinitum had focus. This is everything thrown at the wall, and the wall isnt even a wall.

Perhaps an AI generated wall?

(Pls don’t steal this, Kyo)

Knowing Kyo’s antics these days when being introduced with the band nowadays, whether streaming or presenting their live film (e.g. Zankyou no Ketsumyaku), merch, whatever…

He can be very super-edgy.
