12012

I’m surprised there was no topic on this band and has some how been spoken about within the past year or two since they revived. Either way Im getting a bit ahead of myself here. This is 12012 those who aren’t familiar with them they have had a decent discography size. They started in the early 2000s later disbanded around 2014 and as of recently have revived. Rather slow one but it’s there. I’ll post a video for reference for those who don’t know the project. I also commend this band to legit having no former members. Line-up barely changed at all but as you can see some band members here are also in other bands or projects which is why they are in a slow revival status. Their bassist is in 2 other bands while others are in one.

Overall music wise, I have had a bit of a mixed opinion about this band. I liked their newer stuff rather then their older stuff. Their sound has an interesting mix of rock, metal, melodic and jazz-ish elements to their music? Let me know what people think. Do you like their old stuff or new stuff?

My favorite band with Vidoll on Undercode Production, i have discover 12012 when i have buy the High Style Paradox III in 2004 (compilation of various groups of Undercode Production, with another great band, Mar’derayla with Jun and Iori (Phantasmagoria)). Set aside Mar Maroon, i like all their discography.

Back in the day I knew about them but I never got really into them. Maybe I should give them a chance now? Recommendations where to start?

To start, Playdolls i think, it is quite accessible.:sunglasses:

Start with Shower, then their trio of EPs from 2004, then Play Dolls, and go on from there. Mar Maroon isn’t the absolute worst sin I’ve heard in VK/J-Rock, but it’s their weakest album by far. Seven is great, Self-titled is hit or miss, and everything past that is bliss

Decida of Silence is fantastic, Seven is great. Mar Maroon reactions at the time were overblown IMO and it’s pretty in line more or less I think…

I recommend to start with Decidia of the Silence, The Swan and their best albums Pupa and Larva. Those two albums have a decent majority of their stuff in one release.

To start, I’d say:

  • Play Dolls (To this day, one of my favorite albums of all time)
  • Larva (For all their good singles up til’ they went major)
  • not obtain +1 (For their indies rares / lots of nice, heavy tracks)

The newest stuff is quite decent as well. Mid-career was garbage for them imho.
