He may not necessarily be the coolest store manager in the world, but IMO, he’s the coolest Hard Off store manager.
I’m talking about Nagata-san, who’s made a name for himself covering several amazing classics from X Japan, Hide, L’arc, Glay, TM Revolution, Sophia and B’z.
Featuring nothing but his vocals, and second-hand instruments with apparent flaws/issues in them but apparently fine audio-wise. I’m not an expert so I can’t tell if he’s really playing the instruments or simply just taking the chance to hawk the branch’s wares, while the audio is really professionally put together.
In any case, it’s nonetheless, impressive.
Here are some picks. My personal favourites are his Rocket Dive and Silent Jealousy covers. I think if I know more Glay, I’d like those as well…
my fav is this version of Glay - Winter, Again because he kept adding in riffs from other beloved Glay songs and my sister and i laughed every time so natsukashii
god @ 4:45 when he hits the high note in winter, again AND busts out the kanojo no modern
What’s the connection between actor Justin Long and L’Arc~en~Ciel, you might ask? Well, in the Videomax Latin American Spanish dub of the 2001 film Jeepers Creepers, in place of the classical music being played, “And She Said” can be heard in the background of a restaurant. I wonder if the dubbing studio got clearance for that or a rogue weeaboo wanted to add their personal touch.
“Die from DIR EN GREY is watching sumo wrestling lol”
“My mom was watching sumo wrestling and was screaming about a handsome guy with long hair… But the back of his hand wasn’t skin-colored either, so it must be Die?”
“Die is watching sumo wrestling”
“Sumo Summer Tournament Day 10, I found Dai-kun in the waiting seats lol”
“Die from DIR EN GREY is watching sumo wrestling!!”
“I just happened to turn on the TV and Die-kun is at the sumo summer tournament??? I took a picture of him and he’s definitely there! Whaaaat?! Panic!”
“Sumo wrestling DIR EN GREY Die looks so happy and excited, it’s great!!”
the real questions:
「俺は安青錦を応援してるけど DIRENGREY Dieは応援してる力士おるんかな? それとも箱推しかな?」
I’m rooting for Aonishiki but is Die rooting for anyone?
