I think it’s going to be a limited revival like v[neu]. I don’t see IV and Reno doing ViViD permanently. I think they’ll have all the members except Ko-ki and put a support drummer in instead.
Either way i don’t care, this is a dream come true for me and i will pay ungodly amounts to see this happen because i never got to when they were around for real.
I was so happy when they initially got announced. I had been following Reno and Ko-ki already before in Novelis and then through the session activity afterwards which included IV und Ryouga. They seemed like a lot of fun and with ViViD becoming a full band that was like a dream come true.
I felt the same about their early releases but the more time passed the less interested I was in their music. There sometimes was a b-side I really loved but overall the music was alright but not more.
So yeah, somehow it’s exciting, but then it really depends on what they make out of it. If there’s any new music to come at all.
Ko-ki disappeared from public eye. After the disbandment he started a company, then when it failed he did a bunch of other jobs including being a host. Then the rumor is that he got involved in some sort of scam and then he deleted his twitter account.
He’s the only member who’s not doing any music related work right now.
Cautious optimism. Hoping for a new album but also that it will be more like their earlier stuff, which was fantastic, and less like their sole full album to date, which was really bland, even by my generic-kei-loving standards
Well his official twitter account x.com Has been privated. But i’m pretty sure i remember him having a post-vivid account that’s no longer around. I think he deleted that somewhere around 2019 or thereabouts.
There’s an interview where Ko-ki states that he only went through with music because he thought their band stood a chance thanks to their vocalist SHIN joining, and that he chose drums just because there’s less drummers out there. So he could squirm his way into a good band more easily. He seemed like quite the sly and cheeky fellow from the very beginning. But yeah, he’s the main member I would definitely doubt being part of the revival.
Definitely checks out. The last known thing he was doing before his “disappearance” was trading stocks and stuff. He certainly seemed the most money-oriented member of the band. He probably thought music wasn’t going to keep him afloat forever and decided to go for a better earning “career” instead.
Shin has also talked about certain members not wanting to continue with music anymore leading to their disbandment. Seeing as both Reno and Ryoga are still performing, it could be either IV or Ko-ki.
IV seems to have changed his mind about performing in recent years, though. He’s probably making enough money off royalties from his Shingeki group now and can afford to do band stuff again.
