For me most of my hobbies are connected with a desire to create art. Mostly music composing but I also try myself at drawing and even at game development (poorly).
Alongside that I also like to make various kinds of random cakes especially Asian layer cakes
I have more intererests than I have free time so itās always a struggle and from time to time I need to abandon some
My ācore hobbiesā are doing lots of sports, playing video games, reading, watching Animes and cooking.
Also activities with friends like concerts, theatre, cinema, festivals and (if the weather is nice) day trips that are filling most of my weekends.
Oh, and I very recently started to learn japanese.
My hobbies are kind of connected, too, I spend a lot of time playing guitar and recently picked up piano. Aside from that-
- I love playing video games, mostly RPGs, indie games and platformers
- I read a lot of sociopolitical stuff haha
- Iāve been a voice actor for about 6 years now (5 years professionally)
- Iām working on a commentary YouTube channel during my off time from work
My biggest two are music (I play bass & piano) and art (I produce a webcomic and work in the industry full time) but given those have their own threadsā¦
I used to cosplay and I still sew. Iād love to get back into cosplay soon! Tailoring menās clothes for womenās bodies brings me great joy, and maybe some day Iāll release a limited line so other irl bifauxnen can live out their handsome prince dreams hahaha
I love roleplaying and co-writing and itās been a core hobby of mine since I was single-digits old.
Gaming in downtime too. FFXIV steals a lot of my hours, especially when new raid tiers drop. I especially enjoy tackling ultimate content.
Then locally and communally, I enjoy finding new food spots, going to karaoke, going on long city walks, and of course catching local shows where I can. Oh, and I enjoy cooking! By no means am I a gourmet chef but Iāve lowkey wanted to host a self-catered tea party for years now. One dayā¦!
Edit: how could I FORGET how many HOURS I sink into sudoku a week. Itās the perfeect time-killer for commutes!!
Wow, thatās so cool! And something I really would like to do. In Germany we have a lot of really good voice actors and when my boyfriend and me are starting to watch a new show we talk a lot about from where we know the voices of the characters
Thatās awesome, I did that a lot myself before getting started! I can share a lot of my resources in DMs if youāre interested.
I have a bunch of hobbies that Iām terrible at following through with, so Iām pretty amateurish at everything I do. One thing Iām actually really good at is writing, but my writing has been tangled in this awful web of my psychology and anxiety for years; as a result, Iām super rusty since Iām running away from it every time I start it again. So, being a writer whoās afraid to write is one of my primary hobbies I guess!! Other things Iām bad at sticking with are reading (this is an extension of my writing hang-up) and playing music (bass, synth, and I took voice for a few years so I really like to sing & could be worse at it). These are perpetual struggles in my life, and I hope to one day have the focus and energy to engage with these things more thoroughly.
I like to take pictures too, mostly of animals and like. Trees. Water. Stuff at the park mostly. Iāve been off this for a minute, but thatās just because midwestern winter hindered me in the worst way this year. Iām excited to get back out there, hopefully at some point during the next month or so.
I also took bowling back up recently, I did it as a kid and during college. My old ball split from either cold or a period of not being used, so I kept dragging my feet about replacing it until I got excited about bowling again after going with some coworkers. Got a new ball, a 14-pound Hammer Anger. Itās a pound heavier than my old ball and I havenāt used fingertip grips in almost a decade, so Iāve been playing like utter shit lol. But Iām very content to be a student right now, shaking the dust off, relearning proper form, and adjusting to a new ball. Going once a week for now, Iām gonna try to up that during the summer once the alleys are less busy.
I collect records and Iām, regrettably, a lifelong gamer. These are frivolous hobbies that I lean into more when Iām cold or particularly depressed. I play a really long game every winter to help get me through the season - last year was FFVII: Rebirth, this year was Cyberpunk 2077. Iāll play smaller games throughout the year, but I especially enjoy getting captivated by a huge game. I mostly play on Switch and PS5, but Iāve got a lot of old consoles too.
Oh, I love movies too. I almost had a film minor on my degree, but I was a couple credits away & figured an extra semester for something that would not be essential or practical would be silly. I donāt usually write particularly in-depth reviews, just quick reactions, but Iām on Letterboxd if anyoneās interested in what I get down on: āPunishedYoshikiās profile ā¢ Letterboxd Mostly Iām pretty forgiving with movies, but the stuff Iāll truly love is a crapshoot. My favorite movie last year was Challengers, followed by Megalopolis probably (I know). Last year was not a very good year for movies & I didnāt see a lot. I think this year might be better! Really looking forward to Mickey 17 rn.
I build things in the sims! :3
I dabble in watching wrestling
I use to be a streamer
but I prefer to simply be, wholesome
I also struggle to find time for all my hobbies.
I love pen and paper rolplaying games, Iām mostly playing Dungeons & Dragons at the moment but Iām always excited to try out new games.
I draw and write ever since my teenage days. At the moment, I mostly produce art and stories around the Dungeons & Dragons characters.
Also, reading is great. I am not really tied to a genre. If the story is well written, I am happy to read it.
I like nature stuff, hiking, cycling and discovering new beautiful places.
Bouldering is great too! I sadly had to take a break recently but canāt wait to get back into it.
I picked up cosplay again and sewing.
And I like to knot bracelets or keychains.
And playing video games!
And of courseā¦ concerts & music. My undying love. Iād like to take singing lessons at some point.
I also joined a course recently to learn Japanese, outside of self-studying.
Thanks, but I guess I cannot afford any new hobbies, from a time perspective If I were younger and think about turning it into a career things would be different.
Also, my boyfriend and me always joke about that being a voice actor in Germany is like being royalty - youāre ever born into it or marry into it If you look at the biography of one of them, there is a 90% chance that family members are also in that business.
Photography is also one of my abandoned hobbies. Itās been a while but I had so much fun with it. Mostly landscapes or just random pretty things I noticed, like a cool reflection or stuff like that.
Oh, I also watch wrestling, since my early teens. Donāt know why I donāt consider this as a hobby even though doing it regularly
Btw, applause for all cosplayers, thatās a really cool hobby.
Thanks for reminding me of my hobbies first things first

Before anyone wonders why do I have so many hobbies as a poor person never forget what they say about an aceās free time
I prefer to be reserved about these things, although with this it might not seem like so. one of the reasons is because they cant currently be called hobbies and some others that arent quite existing yet.
ā¦Either way:
- Videogames but wish I could focus more on them because I often take unnecesary long pauses to continue what I play. About to start with FFV and I may be playing a lot of rpgs after too
- Anime, mostly old stuff. anything modern is somewhat uncommon for me to watch at this point , not that I despise it but happens to have less attractive stuff with barely any redeemable qualities more often than not. but then again that is another matter.
-
I plan to learn drawing since there are some artists of both videogames and anime that really are starting to kind of inspire me.
-
A very small interest in writing has also sparkled because of that, somewhat.
-
A relatively cheap keyboard that is wating since eons ago for me to continue practicing.
-
I also planned someday to collect records but these other interests may possible take over that if I ever start collecting anything. Im listening to less music because that too.
Since Iām a bit of a recluse (I never really go out socializing) all my hobbies are āhomeboundā.
Iām a gamer since the good olā SNES days.
Mostly a Playstation guy nowadays, I still adore my Nintendo Switch. Favourite Games would be RPGās (Final Fantasy!!), Horror (Silent Hill!!) and Sci-Fi stuff like Mass Effect or Deus Ex. I also love postapocalyptic settings like in Fallout, Metro or Wasteland. Currently going through Alan Wake 2 and Stray (I love Cats!!).
When not gaming Iām into reading books by Stephen King. Currently Iām reading the whole Dark Tower Saga in Croatian after Iāve read it in English once and then in German again The Dark Tower books are probably my all time favourite Literary works not only from King but also in general.
As a big fan of Dir en grey (actually itās the only Band in my life where I can listen to every album from start to finish without skipping a single song) I tend to buy everything they release just for the sake of it I always jokingly tell my partner that my Diru collection will be my estate
Besides that I sometimes do some Drum & Bass mixing on my laptop/controller and occasionaly like to watch a good movie.
Oh and also my Girlfriend and my Cat Moo can be considered a hobby
Cooking, sculpting, drawing, making comics, story writing / world building, karaoke, fashion, gardening, crafting, just to name a few.
As here are so many members who like cooking Iām thinking about starting a topic to collect easy and fast recipes
I have a lot of them as I donāt have much time to cook during week days but want to eat healthy nonetheless. Maybe some of you guys would also like to share your recipes

This was something I had to ruminate on (and might come back to) because, while there are many series Iāve read that have had very memorable chapters, very few actually get the pacing right and have proper endings. That being said, all of these are a lovely time sink.
The kayokyoku/j-pop side of it is still dwarfed by the other genres, but Yuki Saito - Love and Meiko Nakahara - Happy Birthday, Love for you (Compliation Album) are the two Iāve got.
DJing and producing drag shows! (Because my main former hobby, sewing, has been my job for the last decade). I also hunt down episodes of two long running British medical dramas.
Iām collecting lolita clothes, and heaven knows my family has an angelic patience because I spending all my money on itā¦ I canāt say that cd/record collecting or liveshows photography are my hobbies, because itās more like my everyday activity? Liveshows are more like a routinećhaha. My big problem is that I think that all I like is my routine, like, antique interior for my home, koitsukihime dolls, vintage manga, etcā¦ is it counts when your hobby is trying to bring your dreams into life? Idkā¦ maybe. I wish I will turn into doll someday living her dolly life in her doll house. Perfect.
Yeah sure! I have a few home-grown recipes of all different styles
