But what about past that??
What else is everybody interested in and do your interests or hobbies ever have any crossovers??
Anyone got any weird collections?
Besides being a bangya, I sew, game, collect lego, and cook as a hobby.
My interests donāt overlap much but itād be cool if someone has a similar combination!
i collect porcelain dolls and clown figurines! i plan on expanding my doll collection to other types of dolls, but i really want to start making them as well. iāve also been doing taekwondo for almost eleven years now and working on my 3rd degree black beltā
Writing, by now just fanfics (if I do write, itās been a bit tough the past months due to health deterioration). Reading. Cat food. I started learning what cats need ten years ago and never stopped and since Germany is like a paradise when it comes to raw feeding and having a huge variety of options and things to buy, itās perfect. Iām admin of a forum, one part of my tasks the tool for calculating the food, maintaining it and all of that. And along with that I also looked into canned food.
Knitting and crocheting. Iāve been crocheting so much from two years ago until the end of last year, since then it switched a lot to knitting. I have so many things lying around that I donāt need, that I just had to crochet (not just wanted but had to), always knowing I wouldnāt keep them.
But I also did cosplay, video games, reading manga and drawing little trading cards I try to go to at least one anime convention per year and wear a cosplay. But I donāt have time to make nor space to store them, so itās very limited I even used to be part of a show group doing convention shows. Ah youthā¦
-cosplay (I donāt do it frequently, but I have shown up as Tiffany from Bride of Chucky and Kanami Mashita from Persona 4 Dancing all Night. I really wanna redo her costume!!)
-karaoke, despite not being v good at it. but i can do a rendition of Rock Lobster by the B52s complete with the sound effects
-cooking. i like learning recipes and exploring them. one day i hope to compete in a chili cook off bc that is one of my favourite foods
-collecting chuāhi cans. living in the USA we donāt reallyā¦have them??? thereās some at uwajimaya/hmart but itās not the same.
I enjoy listening to music, especially 90s Visual Kei and gothic. I like movies, particularly psychological horror, giallo, Italian horror, and found footage. I also enjoy studying topics related to my field. When it comes to gaming, I love earning platinum trophies, always on PlayStation.
I mostly read manga, play games (also gacha), or watch horror movies.
Other than that I collect antiques and oddities, and I make really dumb looking photo edits and stickers ^^ā
Around 20 years of reading manga (3000~ish series). Favorite genres include slice-of-life, romcoms, and adventure. Reading habits ebb-and-flow, and Iām more in the āebbā phase right now.
High-fidelity audio. While not the 2ch kind, since I donāt have the space for it, in-ear monitors and headphones are my transducers of choice. If anyone needs some recs, feel free to @ me in the headphones thread.
Retro game emulation and indie games. I also used to play a lot of MapleStory back in the day. Participated in the GMS beta as a kid in '05 and played right up until the start of Aran. Picked it back up a few years ago, but it became a bit of drag, so I dropped it after a couple months.
Collect vaporwave, future-funk, city pop, and kayokyoku cassettes.
Foodie and home cook (the latter when I have the time and motivation ). I like spicy stuff, Sichuan, Korean, Thai, and Malay. I cook mainly Italian.
Oh, and based on my pfp, many can assume Iām into Hololive. Got sucked into the rabbit-hole a few years ago. Mostly a hako-oshi clip-watcher, though. The interactions are fun.
Other than that, the rest is mostly tech-related like web-design (though thatās part of my job as well), ricing/power-user stuff, amateur phone photography, and digital hoarding. Urbex or āurban explorationā is fun, too.
Many of my hobbies overlap with my interest in visual kei, including acquiring Japanese as a second language so I can read through the massive backlog of magazines Iāve collected over the years. Iāve recently been really into archiving and transcribing the text from magazine scans so I can gather fun facts and hopefully one day share some deep dives on my favorite artists/albums. My hope is to get a huge retro done on GazettEās DOGMA album by its 10th anniversary this year. (If anyone ever has any requests for info I love digging through and doing research)
Other than that I enjoy playing guitar and bass, playing video games, and running/strength training. A lot of what I do is just an excuse to spend more time listening to music. (I work in a leadership position in the games industry so sometimes itās hard to spend as much time as I would like jamming out throughout the week when 40 hours is dedicated to projects and meetings)
Like @colorfuljinsei, my fiance and I are hardcore into Hololive. I just love watching the streams and listening to their music as I never though āvtuber musicā would ever be an interest of mine. Itās a nice expansion of my horizons so to speak. Reminds me that I need to get my virtual tickets for Hololive 6th fes this weekend! Normally I would say my oshi is Mumei but realistically these days itās probably Nimi Nightmare (Not-Fauna).
my hobbies are largely music-related (duh), e.g. djing, producing, listening, hoarding, but in a larger sense i have a lot!
in all aspects of my life, i enjoy archiving things, vintage or otherwise.
such ābig-ticketā items include books/magazines, photography, music, knickknacks ā¦ the eras of these items range all across the 20th century, with some even from the 19th! for example, my oldest record is from 1920 :ā)
i love to RESEARCH!
my most favorite of topics include nuclear testing, kabuki theatre, theology (emphasis on zen buddhism/hinduism/taoism), 1960s counterculture, obsolete physical media ā¦ thereās so much O_o
writing is a life-long passion of mine, to the point in which i write essays for fun (mostly on the topics above, but also visual kei!)
herbalism is a big part of my life as well, i spend a lot of my time making salves + tisanes or growing things in my garden for this purpose. itās a lot of fun, and helps me be healthier in my day-to-day!
as for collections ā¦ does having an inordinate amount of vinyl records count? LOL! or maybe my eff ton of cheki of LiN ā¦
do you have any long-standing favorites? i am pretty selective with what i read, since i fall so easily into it, you know? but i really would love to read more :ā) especially of such genres!
yes, i have a lot too! mine skew to the enka more so, but i canāt get enough ā¦ any favorites of that collection?
My main hobby is art but now that Iām about to go to art school for it, I figure it shouldnāt be my ONLY hobby so i picked up guitar again
aside from that Iāve been playing way more videogames and working on side project-type art which ends up being more writing than drawing itself because of the fact that it ends up fleshing out original characters of mine and whatnot
i also like to annotate books sometimes and i have a journal for my notes and analyses and stuff, but so far Iāve really only covered The Setting Sun & Crime and Punishment
