What happened to Ayabie?

Ayabie is one of my favorite bands of all time. I really enjoyed the eras when both Ryohei and Yumehito were part of the band. However, there are several questions that I have never been able to solve, and I would love to know if anyone has the answers, even if they are based on rumors.

  1. Why did Ryohei leave Ayabie to form Megamasso?
  2. Why did all four members of Ayabie (Yumehito, Takehito, Intetsu, and Kenzo) decide to leave the band, leaving only Aoi?

If anyone could help me clear up these doubts, I would greatly appreciate it! Ayabie is a band I’ve been listening to since my adolescence, and I would really like to better understand their history.

I also found this video that seems to talk about Ayabie in general, but I can’t understand it at all:

This left me with more questions than answers, like that rumor that Yumehito left AYABIE because his “wife” didn’t want him to continue singing, creating Belle…

As I saw in the comments of the video I left about Ayabie, some people mention that Yumehito was a real jerk, both to Aoi and the fans. And that Aoi was a “very good-hearted” man. But I don’t understand why all that is said…

Let’s also not forget Aoi and Ryohei later colaborated together an produced an album that was published in different versions by 2 different record labels, since both of them had contracts with different companies at the time.

All of this makes me think that Aoi and Ryohei felt someone united by their bad feelings towards the other Ayabie members. I think the band was “split” internally pretty early on and things just got messy as Ryohei left.

Members are all the same, except the change in vocals.

hahahaaha pls leat me read thsi…

This was such a long time ago my memory will probably fail me, but Ryohei left mainly due to band direction/creativity differences. He was always the driving force of his bands, kinda controlling, and early Megamasso was very similar to ayabie, while the latter drastically changed almost immediately due to yumehito’s influence.

Later, ayabie “disbanded” due to management/contract choices. After they went major Aoi was getting the spotlight over the whole band, there were monetary disputes and in the end he kinda got the brand to himself and launched that solo career that honestly stinks cuz he can’t compose for shit.

Also like, Ryohei was in the band for like 2 years, the dude is just that workaholic and left a huge impact, his compositions are quite unique and were definitely influential back them, that’s why he is remembered so fondly… I don’t think there was ever a biiig fallout between them, it’s just business after all, when their major contract expired they tried that final cashgrab with no issues…

I’m shocked also by Megamasso’s disbandment. They had a major contract and seemed to be doing great. The members later projects never took off. They probably wanted to graduate from VK, I guess…

as much as I love the band, Megamasso more or less stagnated after M4U. AFAIR, after 2015 venues were reducing in size and they were back to indies distribution… migimimi was super mid (and it kinda sucks now honestly), but Megamasso was clearly running on borrowed time… sometimes its just that

Speaking of Megamasso’s members, I found out recently too that Inzargi has a new project under the name “Margin of Life” with three singles already available, his voice still sounds so great! I’ll always remember Ryohei so fondly too, he really is one of the best that came out of the scene in the late 00s hands down

i have but a small piece of the puzzle!! i ended up writing way too much so i bolded the most relevant part:saluting_face:

since i moved to tokyo i’ve been going to see TERESA(Yumehito’s band with Ryuji and Tatsuhi from SOROBAN).. mostly at 2000V which is a really small livehouse so i was able to chat with him after a show recently (๑>◡<๑)

I personally thought yumehito was super funny and friendly and kind!! his whole “prince” thing is a very tongue-in-cheek gag, ryuji likes making the crowd “worship” him and each time he looks like he’s trying to act all proud and vain but is actually shy and flattered heheh. he and ryuji do suuuch funny and sweet comedy banter and i don’t get any asshole vibes from him at all. looks like they have a lot of fun playing together and him and ryuji especially seem to love each other. (unrelated to ayabie but ryuji is so shy and humble?? he also looks exactly the same as he did 20 years ago its crazy) idk maybe i’m projecting but they both seem to be aware of their like somewhat waned popularity and just happy to still be playing and have fans… the shows are soooo fun and the bangya are the nicest, TERESA rocks, i’m gonna keep going and work my way to the front to get covered in fake blood:drop_of_blood:

ANYWAY!! third time i saw them i got to yap with yumehito for 5+ minutes!! i felt like i was abusing my gaijin privilege but the other fans were supportive lol, here is what i learned:

he asked where i was from etc, and told me the names of the characters he drew on the cheki i bought(nappa from DBZ and mametchi tamagotchi:sob::heart_hands:t3:)

when i said i was a fan of ayabie and soroban from back in the day him and ryuji were like “woww whaaat” and also clowned me for being way older than they thought lmao(like ‘why are you in college then…’ ask myself same thing every day!!)

as soon as he found out i was an old fan yumehito made the funniest fucking joke i swear to god… the other fans came up and started chatting with us about the next live. i was like “omg there’s one next week too?? who are you playing with??” and yumehito said “oh you know… dir en grey, l’arc en ciel.. luna sea… AOI will be there too :smirking_face:

(the actual live was a 2man with Matsutake Works and it was also really fun:heart: )

it was such a good joke and right off the cuff too i was dying BUT i also just NOTICED that the way he said “AOI” and had listed him w all these huge improbable acts was the same way i talk abt my old old friend who moved to new york and became a fashion model and doesn’t reply to my texts lol

ykwim?? like fondness, admiration, jealousy, resignation, awareness of relationship change… “too good for me now/on a different level”, obviously not in regular contact. just the tone of that one sentence answered a lot of questions for me!!

i was SO TEMPTED to ask more and ask about ryouhei but i was so happy to be able to talk at all i didn’t wanna cross a line idk.

everyone has different personal and professional sides but i just get notably great vibes from him idk. i loved ayabie as a whole, never paid much attention to him or any one member specifically, never heard of any drama before so didnt expect anything. my pure first impression was that he was a good guy. the very first time i saw TERESA, when yumehito came into the audience he made a point to shake my hand(only foreigner) and a gyao’s hand(only dude) and nobody else’s and i just thought that was such a nice and inclusive gesture idk

also i truly have gotten a weird amt of attention atp but i am 95% sure he wasn’t ever hitting on me!! that would be flattering but also somehow disappointing and weird!! i think he is just outgoing and we are sharing the power of music:+1:t3: i stand out for being the only foreigner and really psyched and participatory. he did say he was evil during the last MC tho lmao. like “yea me and ryuji are demons but tatsuhi is an angel”. so who knows!!
