What happens in live performances where the vocalist or guitarist were not able to appear?

most recent example are the lives of Kuroneko which guitarist were not able to perform, and from what I have seen was also not able to fill in a support guitarist.

so I am curious how will the live be organised if one of those essential members like the guitarist or vocalist are not available?

would in the case of the missing vocalist the guitarist try to fill up the space with some additional guitar solos?

would in the case of a missing guitarist (in a one guitarist group) would the bassist try to play the guitar solos or instead play own inprovised bass solos over it?

or are those groups usually then still only play what they play usually?

The situation is different for everyone. For missing vocalists, it’s kind of tough without a support vocalist on hand. RAN was running (get it?) with a support vocalist for a few shows, and he did his best.

Missing instrument is a little easier, as they would just rely on the backing track without one. The sound may not be as full, but there are a couple of bands out there that barely play on stage anyways.

Backtrack definitely helps a lot but the thing I am specifically interested in is if the lead instruments like lead guitar or vocalist are missing if the other members try to fill in the position of lead.

I’ve heard that Aie filled in for Mako during a deadman show once, but bands getting other members to take over for another member is less common than just getting a support musician or relying on a backing track.

When it comes to Kuroneko I think I just saw on their SNS that they will have a support guitarist. Maybe not always like for the performance yesterday or the day before (not sure whether it was the 8th or 9th), I also forgot who it will be. So I figure they might settle for one.

I remember that Asty played without a vocalist during their last concerts and I was always curious what it looked like

It’s not a problem to replace vocalist, other members or guest vocalists are perfectly fine.

In the case of the GazettE, they decided not to replace Reita. So theres a backing track of his bass when they play live. And since Ruki writes a majority of the songs, it’s safe to assume he’ll be penning/recording that section for future songs.

The same thing recently happened to Jigsaw cause of something with Buki (Parents? I think the translation is wrong) where he couldn’t perform but they still held the live with the other members
