same, just for clarification by “foreign” u mean lyrics not in English, right?
for me the syllables in japanese words vs english words and how that makes them fit a tune really makes a difference - recently someone had me listen to Nightwish (english lyrics) and i thought it was v noticeable that a lot of english words are short ?

lmao was not expectign that, but alright valid.
ty for song titles, i looked those up, looks like theyre from teh same album? (i was not keeping up w/music when it came out)
ty for a topic to focus on… “most relatable for you,”
i feel like theres levels, all of these are relatable for me:
generally relatable
i think immediately of something like mr. children - innocent world (yt), a song that’s “relatable” to very wide audiences - most ppl grow up. most ppl have to deal with jobs, most ppl have to end a relationship, most ppl eventually figure out they need to keep moving forward without blaming themselves or their ex
something like loving or missing/losing a loved one happens to everyone, even if circumstances are private and unique to each individual.
THE YELLOW MONKEY - JAM (yt)
both of those youtube links have the audience singing along lol
life sucks, relatable
sometimes it’s literally EVERYONE’s fault but mine tho?!
this waiter doesnt know shit and im blowin this place up in my mind (sex machineguns - ファミレス・ボンバー family restaurant bomber)(yt)
singing/shouting about it at a concert can help keep u sane at work the next day!
“fuck the world” - u feel alone and UNRELATABLE
this and the last category is where dir en grey lyrics in general fit, to me. when you have feelings that polite society is not ready for. i’m not super familiar with kyo’s lyrics in particular, but i remember reading some uncomfortably direct lyrics when i was younger! i was learning, at the same time, to avoid being direct in japanese lol
for me personally, onmyo-za’s 10th album 鬼子母神 is weirdly relatable; they were able to express a range of monstrous humanity by blaming demons and obfuscating what’s going on with unfamiliar language.
matatabi’s said that it could be more palatable to hear a song about evil deeds in the ancient past when u can’t do anything about the ppl in the current world who are still hurting u in the same way, etc.
even they’re relatable…?
yes, somehow… i find music lyrics can be a way of making the very specific into something relatable…
THE BACK HORN - cobalt blue re: kamikaze pilots (lyrics in captions)
Chyno - O.P.P re: 2010s suicide bomber (lyrics in description)
this is something that even if you sing along at a concert, the feeling might be relatable but the content is something you can take off at the end
