YOMI (Nightmare) has stated his functional dysphonia is cured

Someone already mentioned it in a thread as a takeaway from their New Years interview. But i figured I’d mention it as a post as it’s rather big news.

As I’m sure many are aware, Yomi, the vocalist from Nightmare has been suffering from a voice condition called functional dysphonia since 2016 which was the main cause of their hiatus. This condition made his voice very hoarse, strained, and unbalanced, in turn making him unable to sing properly. Prior to this condition he still had very jarring vocal decay from 2010-2016.

Well at last formally this year Yomi has stated that he’s no longer suffering from Functional Dysphonia

This is great news and the recovery is noticeable as fans have noted Yomi is actually starting to sound like “Yomi” in Nightmare’s recent single Rebel. As well as sounding great on a track by PelleK featuring Yomi. So the confirmation is monumental

It’s the fact that you can tell it was starting all the way back in their Makuhari Messe live in 2010, yet avex overworked them so much. His condition could have probably been managed years ago, or maybe completely avoided all together. Glad to hear that he’s cured though!

As I said in when I posted the news in the other thread, slit all sounded weird to me because back in 16 I think it was stated he could get better but never be cured per se. You can clearly hear it in his voice but still, feels surreal to me.

I really look forward to what they put out next.

Maybe they meant him going back to his “normal” voice altogether. Given that his voice change happened before the damage turned to dysphonia. @Heyt

Yeah, I don’t know, could be. Can’t wait for what they release next to have a better idea. I was surprised a ton of old stuff was showing up on their most recent selists so I assume they found a way to wing it. Seems like the can just do them again.

It’s because on a couple songs he can now sound like a “matured” Yomi instead of a “damaged” singer. For example he sounds pretty good in the clips of Kimi to Ita Kisetsu that are out there. Esoragoto, D Senjou no Tragedy also sound pretty nice.

I think his biggest issue now will probably be aging. It’s normal for singers to lose range and sing in lower keys as they age and most of Nightmare’s material up until 2013 ish was on the higher end. So it’ll probably be the most pressing “issue”

Nah, one of my favorite songs ever is raven load speaker
