キズ (KIZU)

Since I discovered them late, I first saw Lime with the braids so it’s his default look in my mind. Will be strange when he changes it but I am pretty sure he will get tired of the look some day.

I think the braids suit him because he has a well-defined lower third of the face. I mean, his face is structured enough to pull off a hairstyle this heavy. But I’d love to see a look with a hairstyle like this sometime.

I think tbh, everyone is just bored of him just looking the same all the time now. In a scene thats so image based it would be good to see him switch things up soon.

Yup, production is their saving grace. That sounded rough.

It’s giving Diru Wacken

Oh man, I didn’t want to say it.

Well, it’s a fest, and the broadcast sound quality is bad. At their solo shows everything’s great, isn’t it? People here were saying recently that they’re better live. I’m confused :slightly_smiling_face:In my opinion, the atmosphere of daytime festivals doesn’t suit Oni. And playing two such complex songs as Kizuato and Red in a row wasn’t the best choice either. It was good, but it could’ve been better.

…nah dude. It shows how reliant they are on backing tracks, and other technical flourishes that aren’t emulated well live. Lime sounds rough. Like REAL rough.

Yeah….You can barely hear the melody of the song because the bass and guitar are nearly inaudible. Every song will sound like shit if half the instruments are not recognisable.

I am not so fond of their live recordings all of the time. They really shine in the studio and honestly, that’s ok. But this one is just not a good one to judge their ability. If people would measure Diru on the Wacken disaster instead of one of their legendary tours, they would probably say the same.

I often enjoy their lives more than the studio recordings. Not this one, but in my opinion Lime sounds good, especially considering the conditions of performing such difficult parts.

I know he can sing just like on the recordings, he posted rehearsal takes on his blog, and sometimes he does it live too, but more often he adds this kind of “rawness” to his vocals on stage. Sometimes that annoys me, but other times I actually like it, depends on song.

I didn’t think this was bad at all? And with this mixing and recording/video setup and venue even 1972 Led Zeppelin covering Kizu would’ve sounded off given how the songs are recorded and their concert recordings produced.

the VIPs get to eat the deep fried hair of lime: the hair get deep fried long enough to puff up like prawn crackers and get seasoned with overly big amounts of chili and some lime skin.

no way the 20 minute outdoors live with bad sound mixing/recording sounds bad

Compared to other bands that got coverage? …yeah.

Edit: goddamn fucking old footage. I got got. Still, I’ve heard better from Japanese outdoor festivals that have had live streaming.

The sound quality always varies, as does the quality of the recording itself, but if we’re comparing, I’ve seen outright bad performances, for example, zigzag and Matenrou Opera at festivals, where the sound was poor and the vocalists really messed up. I also wouldn’t say that the Gazette’s performance years ago at that festival was any better, even though it was on the main stage. So this one definitely wasn’t a bad performance, considering all the conditions and the setlist :slightly_smiling_face:

Dont know if now they struggle more in their live shows, buy when I saw them live in Shanghai/2019 they were quite good and festivals are not always the best… But I think from that video the only thing that doesnt really fit for me is their visuals in an daylight open air show, except for Yue the rest look a bit off.

I have noticed that weirdly some bands do somehow sound worse in an open air setting than in clubs. But totally agree that for some bands thr atmosphere isnt quite the same in daylight/pleasant weather outside.
