キズ (KIZU)

he looked 10 times younger and cuter and cooler without that white face and braids but that’s an artistical choice I guess
I wonder what Hitone look like as well :l

yeah, you right. He was rockin’ dem thangs for a loooooong time. Someone should introduce Lime to Bantu knots. :joy:

Huh, how would this work? Is just solo shots of them performing Juusei?

This is excellent timing! My friend got very into Jiluka’s drumming so in turn, I was looking for any of Kyonosuke’s drumming vids yesterday and I didn’t find any complete playthroughs from him (if you have any pls send them my way!)

He posts them all the time on his paid blog. But I’m not sure it’s really what’s needed. It’s just footage of him alone during a live. Like this: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQWDpb0keBY/?igsh=YWozdzJ2dWFxbTh0

honestly this are the sorta things where I see those sorta comments only as damage control moreso than actually something taken from the heart. Which is why I still would go with the stance of “Bullying works” lol. “there is some generative AI used” it was not just some, like at least half of the video involved AI slop in one way or another. I need more than just some words to take those words to heart. But considering the hand drawn illustration for the new single, I definitely can let myself give some hope for the future of this group back again as innovators.

Did they make these private? Were they only meant for a certain time to be viewed :sob:

Yes, only for a very short time. There was nothing special there :slightly_smiling_face:

Finding a beautiful, heartwrenching-sounding song

and it’s called *My Bitch*

and it has no lyrics anywhere on the internet.

Well played, Kizu. Well. Played. (if anyone has the lyrics I’ll owe you one, it’s currently my #3 greatest mystery in my life.)

The song will be released on the upcoming album, so the lyrics aren’t available yet. The album comes out on April 8.

Thank you! :heart_suit:

I was actually wondering why I couldn’t find it anywhere (except for a live performance in 2023). I initially thought it was a new song I missed

Admittedly I don’t know any new bands but I’ve recently been listening to their stuff and they are so good!

Lime has such a great and unique voice. It’s so hard to find new bands with unique vocalists like that ;-;

Kizu’s Houou/Ame Otoko. For the love of god, I feel like Houou is just faster and uses the same chord progression as Ame Otoko; to be honest, I need to know i’m not crazy.

you’re not crazy, i stopped going to see kizu after their secret members live last year for this exact reason

every new song sounds like a rehash of the same song

In all honesty I get the complaint about Kizu’s music sounding the same but I also feel that chord progressions are a thing which can get repeated for quite a few songs considering how few chord progressions are actually suitable for pop-esque music

To be fair Kizu has always used similar chord progressions in their songs but somehow made it unique

So composition, melody, rhythm and arrangement don’t matter? Houou has some similarities to Ame Otoko, sure, but it actually sounds even more similar to many other songs. It’s the track where they repeat themselves the most.

But they’ve been putting out completely different songs, each with its own distinct identity, for eight years. So when someone says they’ve always sounded the same or started sounding the same that’s just ridiculous.

Even bands like Dir en Grey have been using not just the same chord progressions, but also melodic ideas and rhythms for years. I’m not even talking about bands that have almost literally identical songs.

Let’s start with Houou, which was interpreted as a 7 string in Drop A. I know they’re in A, so I think this is likely correct.

The rhythm guitar on this one follows a pretty simple pattern.

The only notes here are C#, A, and B. You’ll see these pop up again later in the chorus.

This is the chorus. See the power chords for C#, A, and B? They are usually combined with a triad or another power chord for fullness. Otherwise, it’s still doing what was already established in the opening.

The bridge sees us introduce three new power chords: D, E, and Gb.

That’s about all that’s interesting with the rhythm guitar. It repeats the chorus and then what I think is an arpeggio to close out.

The lead guitar has a bit more to chew on. I’m pretty sure starts with a C#madd9 arpeggio.

They play the same notes for the chorus so I’ll skip ahead to the instrumental break:

It starts out playing a broken Amaj7(no3) that changes to notes from a B6sus chord and then Caug by changing the root note each time. They throw in an A5 power chord and a C#m triad for fun too. Remember, these notes are played individually, not together.

Let’s jump to Ame Otoko, which is in A#. That’s one step up from Houou. Functionally still in the same neighborhood.

The lead guitar starts by palm muting and plucking some notes. They come real fast but this isn’t the important part so I won’t spend too much time here.

This is the part you all came to see, and I’ll post the rhythm guitar right underneath the lead for this one.

It does the same exact fucking hand movements. I won’t say chord progression because the two songs are in different keys (one is A, the other A# I believe). But it’s still 0-2-4. A#-C-D versus A-B-C#. One is played as eighth notes and the other as triplets, but it’s still functionally the same feel! This is probably what you’re detecting @ZephyrHFN.

There’s an entire section of the rhythm guitar which jumps between A# and D (I think it’s D) which doesn’t help spice anything up either.

The rhythm guitar finally manages to distinguish itself at the end by playing some power chords around the middle of the neck. Some of these notes were already played at a different part of the neck earlier, establishing consistency throughout the song. The whole thing is written in triplets I notice. I think that was their way of trying to distinguish the tracks from each other, but it’s not so noticeable when listening.

So it’s not really escaping the claims, both songs do have similar parts to them, but they’re more different than I initially gave them credit for.

WHOAH. THIS WAS MORE INVOLVED THAN I COULD EVER ASK FOR.

Gotta dig in a bit deeper with these notations in mind. Thanks again, Zeus!

Im not sure which notes so im gonna just guess but a lot of their songs use the 4-0-2-0 or 4-0-1-0 progression too for example tenchuu and warui yume (my favorite) i think steroid too…kawazu maybe oshimai etc etc

To me thats their signature
