same lol

I think he’ll release a 2nd mini very soon afterwards, his youtube had several more trailers dating back to like 2020, if not earlier, and I’d guess he probably didn’t stop writing, too.

(black box is the title i remember out of my head, but there were more, warai oni self-cover included.)

Ommmggggg YES

Can’t believe he’s actually had the gall to release this with this mix, sounds like it was recorded in a mud pit

Yeah, this doesn’t really sound good. Not nearly as bad as tzkwym’s A CONNECTIV SYSTEM, but the entire mid-range is a wash of sound…

im no audiophile so the mix stuff is lost on me but he just, does not sound very good haha. Poor dude sounds tired and out-of-time with a scene who’s idea of heavy music has changed a lot since he was a big player

It sounds exactly like his youtube demos from before, and I’d assume most of that is self-produced, with no access to better production since he’s not signed to any label at this time.

Anyone can save up and get studio time if they’re serious about making a good-sounding recording

I don’t think it sounds all that awful (into the mind at least). Yuuki’s stuff always had shit production, so its on par with all the other bad production and mixing jobs of DOAK, core, unsraw, etc.

I’m not going to speculate what’s his financial situation is at the moment (probably not fab?) but he’s in vaguely same generation as sadie, and he neither landed a major contract, nor evidently looks for one.

DOAK demos were exactly on this level too and that was like decade ago;
I just don’t get why people expect idk a full symphonic arrangement and a full studio band from him out of all niche VK people?

yea, he’s clearly not doing that in order to make his music his main source for income. sounds/looks like he’s just doing it for fun really.

Because it’s not that difficult to capture a good guitar tone, and almost every track sounds like a buzz saw underneath layers of distortion. The only thing that sounds relatively clear is him and the piano, as if all the other instruments are an afterthought, and it boggles my mind why he would go through all this effort to record something barely above Filosofem-era quality.

I’m not gonna pretend like UnsraW had stellar recording quality, but you could at least distinguish the instruments in the mix :expressionless:

Is he mastering on $30 corner store earbuds or something?
