there’s an open lawsuit going on against midjourney etc, and their TOS explicitly make it clear that the legal risks associated with ai gen are now taken by the users:
and on top of that, Japan has several trade unions for artists and illustrators, and the infamous anal Japanese copyright thing works in both ways:
I’m not holding my hopes up a lot (there’s so much money fueled into AI at the moment it’s naive to think there’s no higher level bribery being involved), but there will be resistance to this thing.
on a personal level, I find it so funny how many people RAN to get their hyper-realistic CGI fix done once the price dropped to pennies per attempt, while same people would never invest into paying for artist workhours to get same result conventionally.
