No, private videos and photos are banned. Especially Versailles/Kamijo and MDM are historically strict about this. I personally would not risk being thrown out for some instagram stories (but I’ve never really understood taking photos at lives anyways, even when it is allowed). I imagine there will be official photos/videos though.

I do take up to 3 videos per each gig I’m in, but other than that I can’t comprehend the idea of doing nothing but standing and recording the video ;/
But if there will be public official videos, I’m all for it

I’m really looking forward to seeing someone with Ray-Ban sunglasses and a camera. This is going to be really hard to control at a festival in Paris, I think.
On the other hand, these videos that fans make afterwards are really useful for promotion. I don’t know where the conflict arises. Music rights? If they sound terrible afterwards, they’re useless for piracy.

Some points to consider:

(This is the main reason) They want to be in control of the material they put out to public. Especially with something like v系 (also applies to idols), all promotional material is very carefully crafted and vetted, amateur photography can easily make them look far less polished.

Participating in the live becomes impossible if you’re just taking videos the whole time.

It’s not exactly considerate for the other people around you if you have your phone up for the whole live with a bright screen facing towards them and blocking their view.
For what it’s worth, a small number of bands have started to allow taking videos in a controlled fashion even in Japan, usually during specific songs and in any case for a very small part of the live.
Also, yes, it’s almost impossible to police this many people, but are you willing to take the risk that you’ll be the one who gets noticed, thrown out, and banned? And don’t think they won’t stop the live if people are taking photos/videos and the band complains, this has happened many times before.

Thought of this right away.
Totally agree, especially since I’m small. It’s one thing, if arms are raised with the song, that’s usually nothing steady.
Besides it might give the band (or in the case of the festival one or more) the feeling of their wishes not being respected and therefore they might not consider a tour in the future.

- Let it be known that I am not saying or claiming that I intend to record the show. If they prohibit it, so be it.
- In live shows I’ve attended with camera permission, I haven’t recorded above my head, nor have 90% of the audience (not to mention a girl I called out at the Damned show because she was doing it shamelessly, even though she was much shorter than me).
- Will we have someone with it in their hand or what I mentioned about the glasses? I don’t doubt it.
I’ve never taken a photo at a VK show I’ve ever been to before … half because of the cultural aspect to it and half because I’m so in the zone I don’t even care, but I do wish we could take like j don’t know ONE pic a band or something lol.
I’m just sort of hoping that maybe there’ll be professional photographers everywhere because I do think I would come back to these photos again and again. I mean literally my three favorite bands are going to perform for me in the same weekend

They did say that there will be some professional photographs!
I hope they’ll also film at least a song of each band to post on socials later 
I’m still traumatized by Versailles’ castle show in Orléans which was supposed to be released as a DVD only for it to never be released (not sure if they even filmed it in the end)

Kamijo paused a concert in germany an the organizers warnen people that he will end the gig if they continue filming. So don’t underestimate how they can police this. After such an annoucement the people around you will be tellingyou to stop and not risked it.

I think the only time I have seen videos and pics totally allowed was Mucc in Shanghai, before both shows they said it was allowed “everything”…but I think it was kind of a nice gesture to the ppl due to the low ticket sales…
Funnily enough, after the show in the street were ppl “selling” a DVD of the show…didnt buy it because sounded impossible and a scam

It would be good then to have a controlled moment where it’s allowed, like a photo during a concert or something, as you mentioned, like many artists do in Japan. Well, with Mana I think it’ll be impossible; I think he avoids any photos that aren’t Photoshopped.
He doesn’t want to make people realise that he’s nearly 60. Same with Kamijo, seeing him live kind of breaks the vampire rock star image and makes you realise he’s stuck in the same mortal coil as the rest of us u_u (he still looks great, not saying that in the slightest). Based on that recent super edited MUCC promo I wonder if they’re going through a midlife crisis, too.
Aging and mortality are strange things.
Edit : bit of a tangent, sorry mods, but I do kinda understand it too. I wish eg. alternative fashion wasn’t so… youth-coded. I’m pretty good at ignoring what people think about me & societal expectations like that, but it still gets old sometimes. I can’t imagine having a profession that “requires” you to look ageless forever like they do.

Restroom taps are completely fine though. Water is the same as if putting up a drinking fountain.

Water is the same but venue restrooms themselves are often icky. Maybe this one is big enough for them to be better maintained, I’ve never been.

The vision I have in my head for the restroom taps is like a dedicated drinking water fountain that you can use to fill up a bottle you already have, like at my local gym, basically - and not just the same tap water we use to wash our hands.

Guys are you ever touching the part from the tap where the water comes out? No, right? It’s completely clean. You are not asked to drink from the sink. The water is freshly coming out of the tap. It does not touch anything befor going into your bottle.
This is EU. All tap water has drinking water quality. unless specified otherwise, you can safely drink from every tap.
