Additionally, a new visual of the band has been shown:
Ooh. I might actually get this. I only got into them around “10” and have never heard any of their earlier albums, so for me this will be like a whole new album.
A bit surprised by some choices. Not it a bad way. I just wouldn’t have expected some songs to be on it. Yet, it seems they only focused on 2nd Shuuji era songs.
Isn’t it because they’ve been around for 30 years?
Given how horrible 17.5 sounded compared to the original mix, it won’t bother me at all if they do it again, as I’ll know I can safely ignore it
Just for information what was the differences between 17 and 17.5 ?
Well it’s like an other « best of » at least rerecorded, but from them i always prefer original songs, even jazz songs versions from 2 (i guess ?) were mid.
Ishii’s voice is less soft and fluid than before, the best exemple is for the wonderful Tsumetai Ame, the remake is not terrible cause well, it’s them, but it’s very meh compared to the original. I remember being disappointed by all previous remakes.
Still glad to see Mass genshou, Mahoraba blues etc but i hope they’ll do it well.
Could you expand on your 17.5 take? I’m no expert but I consider it an upgrade sounding either a bit less rough and ‘full’ or not being able to tell the difference at all depending on the song.
Well I guess it’s totally subjective, but to me the remix has way too much bass. It’s so muddy. The vocals are buried in the mix. (They’re much clearer in the original.) I suppose technically it’s “cleaner” than the original, but personally I like that really raw, punk rock production. Of course, it could just be the shitty speakers I’m listening to it on…
