Listening to Genealogie der Moral now. In the cabinet surprised me, being more than “just an SE” after all. A different start into the album than I expected
Oooo I’m super curious now!
I need kazu’s basslines engraved into my brain at this point, I love how he plays
The first version was only for peeps at the concert right? Do you have it?
Did you order it? Or is it possible to stream it?
The album blowed my fkn mind. It’s an old but also fresh deadman and W O W
My copies will arrive tomorrow, i am looking forward to hear
Received both albums earlier today here’s my two cents:
Genealogie der Moral is soooo good didn’t know what to expect from the preview but easily one of my favourite album of the last couple of years.
As for Living Hell, their new take on follow the night light blew my mind can’t stop playing it on repeat.
I’m speechless.
btw, just as a reminder, the streaming version will be released on June 3rd.
The reviews in this thread got me listening to them for the first time, and boy am I happy I did. Incredible band!
Mine hasn’t shipped yet. I’m afraid I clicked the little “ship orders when they’re all ready” thing, so it might not ship until the DeG single releases.
The first song threw me for a loop, definitely felt different than their older stuff, but as soon as the next song kicked it it felt like classic deadman.
Don’t worry. I have a bulk order coming in from Tenso on… April 30. So I’ll be showing up with the keg after everyone else has fallen asleep
I need to hear more opinions about the two albums released. I have been a little “strange”.
“Genealogie der Moral” has not completely convinced me, I think it is because it has been a long time since they released a completely new work and it does not resemble their classics or classics 2.0. I must digest it better, although with KEIN this has not happened to me…
and about LIVING HELL, follow the night light has not reached the feeling that the first version gives me
I feel a little weird about Genealogie der Moral as well. Some of the songs i think are some of their strongest work to date ( mayonaka no hakuchou, shizuka na kuchizuke) and are carriying the flag that was raised with their last original album high while others (the dead come walking, rabid dog, mitsubachi) feel completely different and i don’t know if i like them or not. Maybe these songs just need more time to grow…?
LIVING HELL on the other side is a completely different beast. I love all about it, the way they sticked faithful to the originals while improving production and vocally a lot, the little changes like the synths in Follow the Night Light that kinda replace the slapping Bass that really fit with the tone of the song.
But what i love the most is that they kept Additional Cause for Sorrow exactly the way it has been because that is my favorite song of all time and i couldn’t forgive them if they butchered it.
All in all i’m quite pleased but i think i need more time with the new songs.
I trusted you all, and bought this album blind. I hope it’s good
My fav are:
in the cabinet (sooo ggg🖤)
真夜中の白鳥
静かなくちづけ
宿主
The rest is quite forgottable for me
The rerec are good, but I feel nostalgic for the orginal one
My list is exactly the same. Hopefully their next release is more of this and bit less of ‘the dead come walking’ and ‘neko to blanket…’
I didn’t care much for the original rabid dog but this version is somehow much better. Living Hell was really interesting, especially compared to their previous retake mini-album. So much detail, and the synths on follow the night light were a really nice addition. Nothing beats the emotion of the originals, but this was a really fun and enjoyable take on them.
