their second album was really peak Deviloof for me; the vkei was strong and unmistakable but the ‘influences’ from deathcore and other extreme styles weren’t just add-ons but the main shape and style that led the music in what was still a vkei framework.
unless they want to ditch vkei completely and be an extreme metal band ft. crazy clothes and hair, i’d imagine they’ve got to find some way to get at this again. Maybe sounding completely different than their first two albums, but in some way reworking their thesis of ‘deathcore vkei or vkei deathcore’ that’s apparent in more than just their visuals.
maybe i’m too marketing-brained lately, but i think that’s what got them to their heights more so than even their songwriting, performance, or sound - was the unusualness & untappedness of that thesis, and how hard their first two albums committed to it and found success.
The scene would be better with an healthy and thriving deviloof, unfortunately we are very past that point (if we ever were there is another discussion). So I’m placing my bet on “break”
agreed but to be fair, Nazare seems to be pretty aggressively filling this gap as well as Dimlim’s. Come to think of it, they’ve only got one guitarist, haven’t they?
If Deviloof still has that guy who wrote the pandora’s box song in the band (easily their best song whole discography), there is hope for them. But like I wrote before they only have about one more chance. I wonder how much aisaku departing will change things.
I think they are a group where the band truly simply won’t work with only one guitarist.
their whole gimmick is being extra heavy and technical, and you can’t really be heavy with only a playback playing the riff while you play a guitar solo
Seems weird. Even if he does want to go in a different direction musically i dont see the point in deleting the socials. Just focus the attention more where the interest is. But i guess he may also be getting a lot of messages his way about leaving the band so maybe hes just suspending it until everyone is over it. Haha.
I swear it’s pretty much a VK law of nature that every now and then a promising new band with a single-word name written in ALL-CAPS and starting with ‘D’ will show up, drop some good stuff that gets everybody hyped, then catastrophically implode.
So he’s a government official that features maid cafes in his account often enough to tag it in his bio? Does he own one, or is he addicted to moe moe kyuuuu?
Bandmen usually delete socials when they leave a band. Usually they don’t have the rights to the stuff that’s posted on their twitter once they’re no longer part of the band and that stuff is in their contract. Especially if they’re on a label.
Seems not but thats a good point. Hadnt thought of that at all. As said above, in that case starting fresh is probably a better idea in general depending on whats on there in the first place.
