DEVILOOF new EP "Song For The Weak." release

Title track is now available on Spotify. This track has more of an industrial influence it feels like, reminds me of D’espairs Ray.

they performed at a music festival here in Korea over the summer that had a few other international acts as well as some decently large domestic acts, so I’m pretty sure they were sponsored/had expenses covered to some extent. They had interpreters and a team running things for them so it definitely did not seem like a self-funded affair. Was also pleasantly surprised to see the large support since metal is NOT popular here at all, but the crowd was wild and the line for the fansign was so long that they had to cut it off due to time constraints.

I genuinely don’t know what to feel. On one hand it’s so pathetically bad, on the other hand it’s good that they ran out of their previous guitarists material and trying something for themselves .

I just couldn’t listen to the full song.

Well that was certainly interesting. Aside from the super embarrassing synths in the chorus and over-repetition of some parts (5 mins, really??), it wasn’t too bad. Definitely feels like a watershed moment, for better or worse…

Chorus sounds like something you would hear in a modern Hyde solo song

I could barely get through this one. Five minutes and there’s not even a solo. The riffs are kinda there but as someone else said, too much repetition and the chorus kinda stinks. But some might dig it.

The spoken bits in the transitions at 2:00 and 4:30 is a quote from the film Prisoners of the Lost Universe (1983).

3:13 is physically painful in the treble, oof ouch my ear bones.

That’s all I have to add, really. Some parts of the song are nice, but it’s a bit messy as a whole package.

Their catchiest one since… ever I guess.
Looks like they can make good songs from time to time.

Again with those shit ass cleans. Good instrumentals but his cleans ruined the song for me. What happened to this dude’s voice :pensive:

Wow people are way more positive about this song than I had expected, that’s cool to see. Personally I think it’s one of my least favorite songs from them, although I thought there were some good parts, also even if the sound might not be my cup of tea it’s good they’re experimenting with different sounds instead of releasing the same thing over and over. Hoping it will grow on me in time but I just don’t feel like this sound fits DEVILOOF.

This is the worst song they’ve ever released and that’s saying something. Knowing what they’ve done and hearing this almost makes me genuinely angry if their demise wasn’t a long time coming.

literally this omg, they’ve come so far from Ruin and it’s far, far down…

You can feel they tried a bit harder with this one but still 3 terrible songs in a row now, this could even be the worst one yet. I couldn’t finish the MV. This is what creative bankruptcy looks like.

i…have a lot of questions…

I think the cleans in here actually work well with Keisuke’s voice for once, but orherwise pls let Ray just do the cleans thanks

i feel like this song would work if it was by a totally different band but it’s just SO not Deviloof that it’s really confusing and feels really amateur? despite them being on a major label now

wonder if they have less artistic control or what but this feels so un-vkei yet not even moving towards the regular metalcore scene like Dexcore or Nokubura or whatever

the main problem with this song is that it’s so fucking long. Trim the fat, and it would flow so much better

one issue I have and there’s a couple of other videos where they do the same, is whats up with the same settings and outfits? I feel like I’m watching “Everything is all lies” being dubbed with another song :frowning:

that’s largely why it feels more amateur and low-budget to me, like cmon you get a major label deal, you have cash for cool sets and costumes don’t you? unless these are all their own choices, the visuals + music seems like a huge quality backslide

I know most of them have origins outside of vkei, but they got big in vkei and i think they’re shedding it too fast before having established an identity

To be fair, brevity has never been Deviloof’s strong point

gazes longingly at Newspeak

They are speedrunnig the “Nocturnal Bloodlust protocol”
