DIMLIM will disband

This situation is so wierd. I understand why the page was taken down, and respect the decision. But I don’t really see what the band hopes to achieve with this, an drop in a bucket

If they wanted to be forgotten, it was better to leave things alone and time would do it’s thing. But now we are here talking about their essence yet again

If anything, he-who-doesn’t-want-to-be-named is only making things worse for himself. But then again, loudly announcing to everyone that you’re changing directions and going scorched earth on your existing fanbase and the scene that you came from, only to have it blow up in your face with a lukewarm follow up album shows that…they probably don’t care about that.

The vkgy page has been gone for a while, I remember it being gone whenever I looked them up a few months ago (I am still emotionally affected by this so much that I constantly yearn for its return, only to find nothing in the end :sleepy:). It’s still really weird to ask for all information to be removed from an informational source or a database, even if it is a dark period. Bryan Adams is a Canadian artist who had a few hits throughout the end of the 20th Century, and he straight up asked for his AllMusic profile to be deleted. The stuff with the Dimlim page always reminds me of that.

I’m the only one who makes those decisions for vkgy, and I don’t want anyone to speak for me, so suffice it to say that my reasoning is more complicated than what’s been said here–and is better for the longterm health of vkgy.

I will mention, though, that a disproportionate number of deletions have been the result of overseas fans “helpfully” reaching out to band members about their vkgy profiles. So to anyone reading this who wants to reduce the number of deletions: I would suggest you leave bandmen alone when it comes to vkgy.

Also, 100% chance this video was just about a hoodie and oversized tee.

is the discrepancy between overseas fans & bandmen wrt vkgy something you’re able to speak more on, if in general terms?

i imagine i’m not the only one at a crossroads of wanting what’s best for that site as well as the bands it reports on - but sounds like there can be discrepancies in what’s okay in japanese and all our different english-speaking cultures, even w/ good intentions.

i could be wrong, but maybe you’ve got a bit of an elevated perspective above the rest of how not to be a dick across cultures that we could benefit from you sharing? only if you’re comfortable & at liberty to say so, i mean~

regardless, respect 2 u for keeping the site running & balancing all parties’ interests, which i’m sure can’t be easy!!

tbh nothing screams VK louder than a trail of messy, witless, petty drama that outlives one’s band entire active span

This sounds like they threated with legal actions. Which could work for removing their pictures. Because they have rights for them. It can not apply to simple information like band history or discography. No matter how much they dislike what they did as a band. It is not private information like their addresses or birthdays.

But yeah… absolutely sounds like absurd requests vk bands would make. DEG once asked a german store to not sell their older albums and tours.

Elaborate please.

I love the fact that they are scammers and just disbanded/disappeard without returning the fee for the Latin America tour that didn’t happen

I didn’t know that. But these so-called artists have no character. Wishing all the evil they’ve done back on them.

lmao so they are not just garden variety sellouts spitting into the face of ppl who brought them at the very least some global fame, Lets is also a thief

it’s the little personal moments about this asshole that keep me glued to his threads given I stopped caring about this shit the moment they dropped VK in favor of that western spare change they craved so much

But isnt them trying so desperately to erase their past being made a bit redundant by the fact they have basically brought the name/brand back up again?

  • As said above as long as their music/merch still exists, which lets face it, once a recording is out there it is VERY difficult to completely wipe it out unless you were almost not known anyway. ++ The face that they still have music and info out on digital platforms it makes me wonder how legit the threats against vkgy actually were. Like you can say “fuck you, I’ll sue you” but can they actually? Is it worth the time and money to do so even IF that would be possible. Literally nothing here is making sense, imagine a band who once held so much promise being one of the biggest shitshows in music history. Haha.

Lol, batshit insane developments in the ESSNENCE camp.

Makes me wonder what in the world is LETS thinking. You don’t want any public info about your musical past yet you have no problem having almost all your music catalog available for $$$treaming. I see even the live premium show is back public. I might get why you would be kind of ashamed of your visual looks (but seriously you looked better in androgynous bondage guro get-up than in the cringe dickie shorts LA post refuse to grow up core you have going now) tho having the Vanitas and Rijin video up might contradict that.

About the deletion of pages and threads on vk.gy and J-rock one that sets a worrisome precedent.
If there isn’t anything akin to breaking the law going on in on those sites then basically that is just censorship.
I cannot speak for vk.gy as it is a private entity and does function as a wiki type page but I would consider it fair in the case of a public forum that decisions, such as deletion of threads in these situations, should be taken by vote.

I’m sorry LETS, we all have cringe periods in our life we are not proud of, it’s called puberty and you’ll just have to deal with it.

a while back i got jumped by a guy i used to do music with, he ambushed me in my studio, blocked the exits with a gun and an accomplice, bc he wanted about $1k of camera gear.

Luckily for me i’m a managing member of my label, so we think it’s fine for me to speak freely about this. But if this weren’t the case, if the label saw it best that this was not mentioned, it’d just look like i stopped doing music w/ this guy who did publicly nothing wrong, and i didn’t have the respect for him or people asking to explain myself.

I also think of an anecdote about Mark Hamill recently responding to people asking if he consented to fan use of his likeness in AI w/ just a one-word response “no.” Which some saw as rude, but someone explained could be bc d*sney might have grounds for suit if he said anything that could imply one way or another that this project could or couldn’t continue.

I have literally zero more info than anyone else does here about this band and don’t want to imply there’s any relation of these stories. But being in that first one myself, hearing stories like that second one - when people act real strange to me about their past appearances, things they can and can’t say, i usually think of legal/contractual snafus or consideration of private factors of private parties before i think accusations of emotional immaturity etc.

Something i love about vkei is the stage names and personas make it very clear where say, Kyo ends and [his IRL name] begins and vice versa. I’ve got zero interest in learning about the IRL personal matters of any artists, and as much as i like the music DIMLIM did, i think it’s best to let that wall stay up. Speculation into someone’s personal, legal, and business decisions goes too far into IRL shit for me to personally feel comfortable with, but that’s just me and my opinions and a long message in case anyone’s interested why i feel that way i do.

yeah I think that barrier was crossed after they scammed ppl that wanted to attend their show lol.
Personas or not, the consequences and money that went into their pockets are very real and not an act. Scammers deserve nothing good no matter their private situation.

Is there any proof that the band recieved the money thou? And that the company didn’t sack it into their own pocket and just accused the band afterwards to get out unscathed?

The same “company” also wanted Deviloof to come over without Deviloof having ever mentioned anything about it

But maybe…just maybe a company that seems to have only announced dimlim, then some sus Deviloof live, is sus too
But if anybody can correct me in that and tell me that this was actually a legit company, feel free to do so

if that is true I’ll eat my own shit, but I don’t think the band itself spoke up that they’ve been led on?

It’s unfortunate, because whenever I check VK band’s listener stats, Santiago seems to be a hot spot for listeners. It would seem like an ideal location to bring bands, despite the huge ordeal to get there in the first place (hello, 25-51 hour trip).

I don’t know if fans would have more luck going to experienced concert bookers with the stats, and get them to contact the bands if they agree that it’s a smart business move, instead of trying to do it themselves and shit like this happening?
